Of course location matters. If you were coming from abroad would you want to go to a club based in London or the south where it's generally a nicer area to live than say Sheffield or Birmingham for example.

Not just saying it because I'm from the south but footballers come over with kids and families and they would like to live somewhere nice. At the end of the day, don't they do this footvall stuff as a job to earn money.. Money so they can afford to live in a nice house in a nice area?

I know you can get nice places in areas I mentioned but coming from abroad I'd think it would have a big effect on some players.

meh... sorry but who the f lives in brum land or salford or toxteth...

nobody.

a really dedicated footballer needs a reasonable drive to training, then home then rest. thats my point. peoepl looking for "nice" "luxury" "party" or whatever.... sorry but thats not why they are looking to be a top 4 player.

you need to dedicated ones not the wide boys.

so mdrid has a lot of f'n ****holes in it. and a lot of fabulous areas. barcelona too... soooooo... what. a footballer can swan in and do enough, have party, live well and just get by.... or they can dedicate themselves to their career which is going to be short.

I'd personal rate a man that looked for the best school for his kids in this equation than where's the best lapdancing club.

Well that's obviously not what Sanchez' thought process was and he is doing a fine job for Arsenal.

why by rues? we've no chance... so why not run off to spain and compete with dortmund for the mooted replacement... paco alacer

move now and perhaps chelsea will not buy him up

see the express story on lfc website.

Wasn't there an article last week saying that Liverpool didn't get Shaqiri because we had a £20mill offer turned down?

This week the Express is saying that Man Utd are going to sign him- having made and £18mill offer. Something not right here. Will be horrible if they get him. LVG wouldn't know what to do with him!

(can he play Left-back?)

Ythink was posted here a few pages back. Not sure how true it is though. Surely only a matter of time before he moves given his potential and lack of playing time at Bayern.

It was said to have been blocked rather than rejected. Don't really know what the difference is, guess it means the club were ready to sell (management etc) and someone (Chairman?) didn't want to sell so blocked the move.

Think in terms of a Jan move, could be that they stopped a transfer in the summer thinking they'd need him, turns out they don't and now cause he wants football a move could be back on.

Man U would be crazy to spend more money on another winger. A Centre Back (or 2) is what they need also a Right Back that wont get sent off and a DM that isn't Carrick.

Actually no it's not crazy at all!

Come in guys think on it. Van gaal knows full well what he needs and in our crap league havide two fast really good wide forwards is important. Di Maria and Shaqiri wide of RvP or falcao with Rooney dropping into an am role with two Dms is how he will play. In case you lot missed it that's blind and Felliani

Yeah he needs a top cb as fast as he'll but when he shifts mata (and it seems he will) it'll be effectively one in one out.

Yeah so he needs an rb... So? Rafael would do for a window

Utd only need that cb to compete for 4th... Shaqiri is icing on the cake

Also on bayern.... You'll find if Shaqiri is moving it is cos reus has a pre contract all sewn up so that blows Chelsea out of water

A pre contract to replace Shaqiri on the bench? that would be a bit of a bad move for Reus!

Ehhhhh no son, to take on the aged legs of robben and Ribery.

Reus is german so we will know soon enough which of Chelsea and bayern he goes to.

Would people take Cech for £7m? No doubt he's still a top keeper and would be no.1 ahead of Mig for the next couple of years.. maybe Mig can learn from him as well and in 2 years time he'll be 28 (I think) so still young enough to have a future with us.

But we have no money in January :emoticon-0106-cryin

How good do we think Cech would look behind our defence though?

He'd prove some confidence from crosses and communication. I rate Mig and think he'll do well, he just needs to get a stable partnership to help work on that communication I guess.
