See this is the bit I’m confused with. Howe’s done zero wrong and if anything has been praised by everybody other than this thread for the way in which he’s handled the whole thing.You or I might say such things but we cannot turn round and say one club is then worse than the other when both do the same things as all other clubs, not even most other clubs. They should have got a deal agreed with isak but appear to be on the just not for sale with no new deal approach which is disasterous in isak's mind.
I thought we had enquired and then took your no and went and got Ekitike who we were supposed to be after in may.

Something triggered us to go back. I dont know what it was, But it seems to me thst offer was our idea of best price so it should be over.
That leaves isak and Newcastle needing to some to a solution of some sort because I agree you certainly cannot be looking for wisda as the main line option.

You sell him late on and try and replace.

Yeah but on deadline day it'll all be done in an hour.
We've had this conversation before and we've all said more or less the same thing. Every player is 'tapped up' probably via the agents to see if the player is open to the move. A 'yes' or a 'maybe' gives the club the green light to ask the selling club for permission to talk to the player. And it goes from there. I thought that was universally accepted.
I wasn't particularly in favour of us signing Isak from the outset but there came a point in the saga when I thought a nice lad is being manipulated by a not nice agent. It's Newcastle's problem not ours.
Shearer on bbc just now bemoaning PSR and how Villa and Newcastle couldn’t spend as much as the top four have. He should educate himself and look at what we spent last year and how much we got for players sold. I am sure he would love PIF to be given free range to spend countless billions but the whole thing is getting ruined by oil states, sport washing and the like

That is a fair point. FSG are an international sport investment company. They are a business and football is big business. That said, if the rules were adhered to properly and we did not have the likes of City cheating and buying the legal muscle to avoid paying the penalty or Chelsea cheating and selling their ladies team and other scams, we would have some chance of a reasonable approach. My concern is the powerful clubs want a super league which we don’t want

Everton were very close to being sold.into a house of cards that was collapsing so the ownership rules in England are a disgrace.
Again if psr is for anything its to stop those types and the likes of gilet and hicks getting their hands on anyone's clubs but it doesn't as its not backed by bands on multi club ownership and proper ownership scrutiny.

Owners with money built big clubs and success. You did it yourselves back in the day. You’d won **** all by the 50’s and the game had been going 70 years strong by that point. So let’s not pretend you started winning things through local natural talent lads. You’re not the Lisbon lions.
