Newcastle currently has no DoF or CEO. I read that Howe has his nephew in trying to help him run things. No wonder there's no movement or meaningful negotiations with their own player and any prospective targets.
We do although one just appointed and other starting in a month.

Club don’t want Isak to leave. Isak wants to leave. Based on the various reports Again, we as fans, will never know the exact ins and outs of it all.

Isak wanting to leave as he wants to win things as opposed to being in the mix and obviously better chance of that at your lot as opposed to my lot. Also, no doubt the big jump in salary won’t be a minor factor.

Where we are falling short on newbies and keeping Isak & Co is in wages. Shearer came back in the day largely due to being a local. Players we are after aren’t local and we, therefore, don’t have that as a pull. Stature of Club to the outside World means we are below the relatively recently classed so called Big 6. We have seen players we are reported to have been after go to Real Madrid, Chelsea, Man City, potentially Man Utd and now potentially your lot.

Also, thanks to psr we are crippled and not able to compete on salary. Even if we were competing on ‘project’ we lose out on salary offered. The so called financial rules preventing competition and ambition and acting as a ‘protectionist’ mechanism for the Clubs fortunate to be at the top when these rules were first introduced.

If what is being reported about Isak is true and reading realistically between the lines then Isak is trying to force a sale through now by being difficult, NUFC are trying to keep him but probably won’t ultimately be able to do so and putting out releases to excuse Isak and not trying not to upset him in case he does stop. I don’t think we will sell him until we have a suitable replacement for him. Probably replacement won’t be as good but can’t be too much of a downward step.

For me, I wouldn’t sell him. If he didn’t want the ‘disadvantages’ of a long contract with us when he came ie not being able to move in the summer of 2025 without the Club agreeing, then he shouldn’t have signed the contract in the first place and should honour that contract in spirit as well as fact and should not be trying to force a move which in reality is what he’s trying to do.

Given our second game of the season is against your lot I’d be surprised if any deal, if one is done, will be before then.

I’d have thought that Newcastle would have approved his training elsewhere. In any case, it does look like he’s heading our way.

rumours about Konate to Madrid are resurfacing last 24 hours, I’m very concerned that we are light at CB and that an exit would be disastrous for us as we stand.

I was thinking that we also need a replacement for Diaz, especially if Nunez and Chiesa depart but Rio may be given that chance; although, imo it’s probably too much at his age.

Worry with Rio starting a lot of games is he gets an injury which affects him for the rest of his career. Players his age are still maturing body wise.

Reports now that lfc won’t be preparing 2nd bid unless Newcastle reach back out.

Might be posturing to force Isak to make movements in his side though.

Only a handful of people will know what's really going on and that won't include fans. I posted about your club being light in the decision making department because it seems to be significant in how this is playing out.

Speaking for myself, although Isak is undoubtedly a great player, his injury record concerns me so I'm not in the let's get him at any cost camp. Rumours are rife and it's not our usual M.O. We like to go about our business quickly and not so publically. It's a running joke that Hughes only seems to work on a Friday so expect any announcement to be in a week or two weeks ....

We're in a stronger position here than is generally the case. We don't desperately need him, and he wants to leave so Newkie don't have a great deal of bargaining power. We could say sod it and walk away, and on the face of it that might suit them, but they'd likely have an unhappy player on their hands. It's probably best for them to get the most they can for him while they can.
It's all a bit messy tbh, and I agree with those who aren't struck on the deal. I do hope negotiations for a CB are seriously underway because that's the one current weakness in squad depth.

It is a bit odd but it seems to all have come out when we went to talk.

Who leaked it? No idea
Why does the player want to say he wants to go? No idea. Maybe its our fault, maybe its not.
Who's said we bid? No idea
Who said we wont bid again unless newcastle come back? No idea.

Just my opinion but the player does look entitled and its not great.

Are we innocent? No idea.

Are some folk a little precious about plauer contact. Absolutely. The game has moved on every club including newcastle are at this. Same for forest BTW. Thier antics over gibbs white just show hypocrisy.

I hope newcastle are more mature about it.

We know our players are talking all over the place. You have to shrug it off now.

You dont shrug off a player being unprofessional or refusing to play or whatever.

Isla did sign a 6 year deal so its his problem now.

You can expect to get Isak for less than you paid for Wirtz, that's just ridiculous.

Well we didn't if we believe you were offered 110mil given we only paid a guaranteed 100 for wirtz.

Both of which sound absolutely crazy money lol.

Yes theres a 16mil in add ons bit those are not assured.

This is aboit negotiation. You've just outright refused.and not set a position out.

The ball seems to now be in isak's court. If he now shut up and slinks back to camp then that is that.

If he puts in a transfer request then you will have to deal with it somehow which may include coming to us with a position.

We are not going to man utd this imo. We are not going to up the bid until to say yes.

Sorry :)

I don't know who it was in response to or whether it was just a blanket statement - Newcastle come out with 'Isak not for sale', Isak comes out with 'yes I am'.and the dance begins.

Reports now that our Governor has stepped in and said no, end of. He’s apparently annoyed about how Isak and Liverpool have gone about this. There’s a strong suggestion of Liverpool having tapped up Isak which is what is believed at this end.

But, as we agree, we will never really know.

There will be "strong suggestions" of all sorts against Liverpool from your side. It's what happens especially when a club is on the verge of losing their best player. It's about saving face. A sort of - look it wasn't our fault he left, it was the actions of the other club. In reality most players will be tapped up. The buying club wants to know whether or not the player is interested before starting an official process. Most recently, see Trent for details.

Problem is for you guys you are now in the big leagues imho
Just like us with Suarez
Just like us with Torres
Same with Trent

(all differing scenarios - but this now comes with your territory)

there is always a bigger fish unless you are Real or Barca
Even Utd I still think have more sway than most

I think PSR is a joke too and you guys should be allowed to flex your financial muscles as it were

your choice is simple keep him and set your stall as a club some good and a lot of bad - or sell him and make Isak out to be the bad guy along with whichever club takes him - same choice we had with those and countless others above

I am in the camp that when a player does this to us that they should just go
I have mellowed in my old age and listening to these guys on here

club should sort it out now - not even saying to us

I don’t think you can win now - has anyone ever got to this point stayed and enjoyed success - I can only think of Gerrard at our end ?

it’s sad and frustrating but it is what it is

Suarez. Stayed an extra year and had one of his best years. I remember Rodgers making him train on his own as well. It was a terrible idea then as it is now.
