Aye, just read that now on my phone after watching a film in bed before I nod off. I take it all back, Liverpool if this is true - whilst I still balk at £111m for this player, I can't fault the club IF they've been encouraged by his representatives. Someone has got to the lad, but it's a moot point now as he's burned his bridges, IMO. But I also understand why Liverpool can't walk away until Brighton tell them that they're breaking the verbal contract at their end.

All in all, humiliating and infuriating, but, apart from getting involved at this price in the first place, it's not the club's fault. And it certainly ain't Klopp's. :rolleyes:

We've bid, its excepted.
Caicedo really doesn't give two ****s who he plays for. He will pull on the shirt of whoever pays him the most.

His agent definitely wants as big a cut as possible, which suggests Chelsea have him in their pocket.

If we told him we'd pay him a million a week, and his agent could have cut, he'd run up the motorway with his agent on his back.

Yes, I'm sure it comes down to his agent saying he will be paid more at Chelsea. I do.suspect we will not end up with Lavia or Caicedo... And that's frustrating but not worried. There's always another player... And if Chelsea do beat us to both, it looks like we've forced them to spend a lot more than they would otherwise.

I'm unsure why it humiliating. He wants to go to who pay him more.

If he came out and said, **** liverpool, their **** and the city stinks, Chelsea are by far the better team, then yes, it humiliating, but Chelsea are going to pay ne more and my agent is getting a big back hander just shows what he's in the game for.

Trying not to be picky here but there is no such thing a a verbal contract.

I've been, let's say less than impressed with our ownership for a while.

We've pleaded poverty, struggled with depth to the squad, kept going with injury prone players because we had no other options.

We've hangled over 5 million here and there, suddenly we've got £110 million to pop out to sign the new flavour of the month.

There is always another player, but I doubt we will sign them, our transfer strategy is an absolute mess.

How much are Chelsea paying him and his agent mate, were you far off competing?

I do think it's about his agent's backhander IF we were told, as the report in the Mirror suggests, that he was happy with the wages that we were offering. But agent fees are part of FFP, and the new supposedly more stringent FFP at that too, so presumably we (or at least the FA and UEFA) will find out. Humiliating on the level that his agent appears to have set us up like a good'n though. Shades of Suarez's agent doing the same in 2014, but we've had our moments too, tbf. :emoticon-0138-think

His deep affinity with the club? How much he enjoyed playing at Stafford Bridge once last season, he must play there more often? He actually fancies the mascot?

His head got turned by arsenal, then Chelsea, then us and back to Chelsea, he's not exactly picky.

Sometimes it works and you get to crow a bit, sometimes it doesn't and you look a dickhead.

In fairness, that London is always the pull, especially at Chelsea, even post Roman Abramovich, has a sort of rich, Bohemian pull to it. That and the player parties with the supermodels and gangsters, but tbf City, United, and Liverpool players have their own versions of them - or had - in the Northwest. Or so rumour has it... :bandit:

Do you think there is a solid reason he would prefer Liverpool over Chelsea?

In reality neither of us know, his Grandad may have been a big Chelsea fan, he may have watched Chelsea win the CL as a youth and thought they were great.
Maybe he has not seen much of Liverpool or for some reason (can't think what) doesn't rate Klopp.
So many things neither of us will never know but will have to accept if he say's he want's to play for one club and not the other.

I'd happily agree, but he didn't seem to fussed by Chelsea when he was looking to sign for arsenal.

I dont blame him, it's not like he grew up on breck Road. It's a job to him, a way to make as much money as possible before his legs go.

Every club has its hero's, local lads that come good and their affinity is sometimes stronger than money or medals, sometimes you get a foreign Import that develops a love for the club.

Buts it's rare, plus from their point of view, they know we'd turn on them just as quickly.

It's a fickle game when it comes to support and loyalty. You can always count your money though.

Chelsea cannot buy Moises Caicedo without significant sales, and Brighton are not interested in players exchange. They are also worried about Financial Fair Play rules, they are between the devil and the deep sea.

As someone who was born in the East End of London, before moving to Kent as a child, give me Liverpool any day. Only been a few times but I think the city is great :emoticon-0148-yes:
