Ffs, this is ruining my happy hour.

It’s just as well that players don’t think like fans - it’s a business. The clubs are and the players are. Very few on here know the reality, yet here we all are speculating like the journos we all abuse for similar.

I’m happy to see where the dust settles.

Caicedo has decided to keep his word and only accept Chelsea as personal terms were agreed since end of May. Chelsea, set to bid again in order to get deal done with Brighton," he said.

Which opens a can of worms surely why had he agreed terms with Chelsea when Brighton hadnt accepted a bid for him?

All over - Sky saying he's officially rejected going to anywhere but Chelsea. No way could he come here now anyway. utter humiliation, let's not pretend otherwise.

Be fair to Brighton - they've absolutely hosed us over this. :emoticon-0143-smirk

Yeah I dont get that.
Increasingly now I am seeing deals where the player has agreed terms with a club BEFORE his club have accepted an offer.
How is this allowed?
I thought clubs werent allowed to approach a player until they had agreed a fee with the selling club?

If he'll come - look back over the posts and you'll see I wanted Lavia, but I don't blame Romeo for saying **** off knowing he was practically just bait.

I'm sure he still will. Players in the championship don't turn down the likes of Liverpool due to hurt feelings. Especially when there's no other big clubs in for him.

Agreeing personal terms before a fee is standard practice now. Why waste weeks/months negotiating a fee just to find out the player isn't interested or you're 50k apart in wage offer/demands.

Chelsea have actually got to bid though. They weren't willing to go to £80m earlier in the summer, who says they'll go £100m+

They've just been done for ffp and the big wages of a number of players they can't shift.

Surely its a case of tapping up which we got in trouble for with VVD. Could see Brighton asking for a couple extra million from Chelsea to overlook that. Caicedo doesn't come out looking great from all of this especially with the stuff with Arsenal in January as well.

I do find it odd you've done this though. I've read on here a lot before that you only go for players who want to play for Liverpool and that you don't get involved in bidding wars.

Seem to have gone away from that completely with this. Seems a bit strange?

Well God knows, we should have done this before making complete twats of ourselves. Again. Simply can't fathom why we'd chuck a £111m bid in at 3 am without actually speaking to the players and his representatives. :emoticon-0108-speec

Negotiations through his agent? "We never spoke to the player, honest".

nobody understands what's going on.

it's deadline day panic 3 weeks early.

we've walked away from a 3? mil price gap and whipped out 63 million more and said please take this to Brighton.

"X has agreed terms with [insert club name], all that remains is for [selling club] to accept a bid"
