In our squad then there would be 8 u21 players. only 11 foreign players, 2 rickety old crocks.

now with about 90mil to spend to get about 6 foreign players to build this squad up It'll be quite the challenge imo.

We are facing into 2 or 3 years of having an 11 and not much more so only league and whatever euope we can get will be only priorrites.

Alisson
Trent Konate VVD Robertson
Henderson Bajectic ?
Salah nunez/gakpo Diaz

IMo we will need more than 90mil to get back to having 2 players in every slot.

or see the two kids develop cos we have 50mil to spend plus what we can sell. aka kelleher and Phillips.

BTW I can't wait to see kelleher go. we have two better than him coming up
I'm not sure why you don't like Kelleher. Whoever we have coming through hasn't yet played in, or proven themselves in the first team. Personally I'm more than comfortable with Kelleher, he's cool and unflappable and I'd actually favour him in a shootout.

I don't dislike him.

But.

a) he is quite injury prone
b) i don't think he is all that at the basics of keeping (shot stopping, catching)
c) most of all he wants to go.

he is very good at running about outside his box and at passing the ball and saving pens.

Harvey davies has played, he's very very good with his feet, has the longesy arms i've ever seen so is a good shot stopper and is just better than kelleher was at same age (and i saw Kelleher at that age)

The guy wants to go so my view is "all the best."

Have we had a better backup keeper in recent decades?

Kelleher is really good but I get the sense that he wants more game time which he won't get unless Alison's form starts to fall off a cliff.

He's a sellable asset and we are a sell to buy club unfortunately.

and his asset value will never be higher.

We got 12mil for danny ward from nowhere and that lad was never half the player kelleher is so there will be club looking this summer so we should cash in.

cos you'd be just throwing money away.

If you are in tescos and there's chicken fillets at full price but are out of date today what do you do?

its chicken for dinner tonight.

do you pay full price or try to get them with some money off cos you know tesco will drop the price eventually.

Or do you look for something else cos they are on the turn?

If a player has a shorter contract left you have to low ball his club for being stupid enough to let his contract run down.

we've had plenty of players that klopp has let their contracts run down rather than replace (irrespective of what he says) Can cost 10mil and we were happy keep and play and let it run out then buy then. We let windy run out rather than sell.

Chelsea have 407 players. they don't need mount. Mount knows it, we know it. Chelsea can keep him out of spite or sell for a fee that the market dictates (not us or Chelsea)

If someone walked up to you in tesco and picks that pack of chicken fillets up and puts it in their basket at full price do you fight over them? no you get something else and hope they get salmonella for being stupid.

You buy chicken fillets on a five year contract?

Most of our players prime value was then

Yep and that's when we should have been looking to rebuild. However, you could argue their case because they were first teamers who were getting a lot of mins.

Nat was never going to become a starter after that season or get any more mins after that season. So his value would only decline from that point onwards. By the sounds of it, Nat wanted the move and the club got offers but we got greedy.

Still can't believe we didnt sell Nat Philips after 20/21 - that was his prime value.

I honestly think the player himself had something to do with it. his wages were probably putting clubs off. 15mil was nothing really and i'm sure the club would have settled with a club who were serious.

I honestly don't think anyone really wanted him enough. he's that slow that putting a 60k or whatever he was looking millstone round your neck as a newly promoted side made no sense to most imo.

We've had this argument before. Imo, we need squad fillers because we can't afford to have 25 top notch players like Man City or Chelsea can. Players like Phillips, Jones and Milner (you love him really) are equivalent to when Man Utd were winning everything with Brown, Butt and Anderson in their squad

We're also a sell to buy club - and our world class players are now regressing. We have to sell such players that you mentioned to bring in new players to raise the bar.
