Some good news - Will Spearman is being promoted and will replace Ian Graham as Head of Research.

not what was being sold online recently.

They were selling a story of a hire of a top man in the field this summer.

but anyway. another promote form within so who know. manybe they are talking about ward's replacement?

Yep it sounded like it was an external hire but glad we kept Will Spearman and stopped the brain drain.

Paul Mitchell seems to the most likely option for Sporting Director.

we will see, that seems a 2+2 scenario.

it could happen, nobody knows but equally it's a link based on coincidence more than something hard anyone has heard

I feel like Fati is another one we've been linked with several times before too. The new Arda Turan.

it's a classic Barca player antic.

just have a few stories in press to give Barca a kick are three via fans to get on with contract

pedri for example. never in a month of Sundays was he moving anywhere but especially not to us

he got his big contract.

Rumour is Mason Mount wants £240k a week, so pretty near £1m a month. Delusional or what!!!

not really given the level of wages out there.

sterling on 350k a week or so?? same team, same England team etc etc.

I'd pay him that at lfc. cos let's face it. he's not a forward and if klopp could make him into a no 8 he would be excellent.

Klopp saying that it's clear we have to do something in the summer. He says this club doesn't operate like other clubs. We don't get four new players and see if one will work out; we have to be clever and get the right players.

Well , we all know this but he is missing the point a bit or avoiding it.

We might get 1 right player but that is literally 1 right player while the rest of the team degrades.

A lot clubs cannot buy 4 right fulls or whatever Chelsea are at but they don't by a forward every window for 4 windows and let the midfield age out.

We now have that? Crvalho (7 or 8mil) diaz (50mil), nunez (85mil commitment) for LW. We have jota at 45mil and gakpo at 44mil commitment for CF alongside bobby and we have salah on 350k a week with doak at 600k as his understudy.

All wonderful. We've a shot at having a set of 3 forwards there to go form.

But.. midifeld Bajcetic was signed in january 21. 250k, thaigo was bought in summer 2020, elliott was bought in 2019. (and then loand and is really a forward) We have absolutely not made the most of these limited funds here. Great job on the forwards, they might even save our arses form now til may.... but... not much good when the midfield is in ****. its 2.5 years and 3 windows since a new cm arrived.

And lets not mention the backs. VVD rapidly aging. matip is done for, gomez has gone right off. 1 CB signing in 2021.

So by all means get the signings right. Klopp has a bloody marvellous record of it. But if waiting for the right player means the team falls apart then its actually not working is it?

Could we not prefer to say ok, carvalho was a luxury buy, a smash and grab with a view to selling at a profit after tribunal is done and dusted.... maybe they money needs to be put to better use.

We could have sold keita, ox, phillips for reasonable fees, not loaned out Morton and got ourselves one more buy in and been in a better place than we are now.

My interpretation of what he said amounted to him talking about stockpiling. He said - paraphrasing - we can't keep adding players when nobody is moving out. If two move on, we can get two in.

I really believe that a lot of not dipping into the market is down to him and that last point he made. He doesn't like working with a big squad. He said big changes are necessary and that's why he signed a new contract because he wants to do that himself.

Let's face it, he's preparing us for Bellingham's arrival isn't he <whistle>

Not sure it was as easy to sell some of our redundant players as they seemed quite happy to take the wages and run their contracts down .

if people ended up with the following

bajcetic no 6
Bellingham 120mil fee 400k a week wage
mount 25mil and 250k a week wage

fabinho reserve
Jones reserve
Henderson reserve
Elliott emergency reserve
morton reserve.

keita gone 120k wage
milner gone 60k a week wage
ox gone 120k a week wage
thiago gone maybe a fee but 200k a week gone.
Phillips gone another 50k a week at least
kelleher gone 25mil fee

net is we have a small increase in wages paid (100k) and then needing to find about 50mil to fund the transfers (50mil budget, 20 or 40 from sales)

would people accept this situation?

alisson
trent konate vvd Robertson
Bellingham bajcetic mount
salah gakpo nunez

I mean sniffing round the bargain pile seems far more likely to me than buying Bellingham.

He's just saying we need to shift the likes of Ox, Keita, Milner, etc on to make room in the squad. Think we all know that anyway.

The squad numbers stack up, it's the quality that's the issue.

I think Tielemans might be an option for us [HASHTAG]#free[/HASHTAG]

Not saying I want him, I'm saying I think the club may consider it
