I don’t get this deal at all. He’s 33 so has no resale value and will be on huge wages. They must be very confident in the number of marketing deals that they can wrap up quickly because football is a fickle game and fans will move onto the next superstar....as will the marketing money!!

It may well be the best ever deal...for real.

Real paid 85mil for him. After many champions leagues and domestic trophies and him paying his wages and fee back times over in image rights etc.

To get 105mil for him back... 9 years on for a 33 year old.

Has to be greatest ever desl

Ronaldo has kept him self in a very good physical condition and adapted his game to be a striker, so I think he will be fine in the relatively slow league

I think that he’s fit for sure but recall reading a while back that his knees were fooked! Maybe my memory isn’t that good anymore <laugh>

£105m for a 33yr old!!!

I remember people laughing at Spurs for spending £6m on a 32yr old Les Ferdinand!

Share price went up 20% apparently.

It's more the marketing side of things. He has a significantly larger social media presence than any world footballer which can bring huge advertising opportunities. He also has a huge number of high profile sponsors. Much like Beckham, he is the largest sports brand in the world. The Old Lady will make a killing out of him.

This shows how much pressure he's under...

It wouldn't normally make the BBC website.
This part; 'that Karius will continue to be criticised until "he has a few fantastic games".'

He's never had fantastic games, thats part of the problem. If he was a fantastic gk then we could say this is just a bad patch, but he was average at best before. GK is all about confidence his and the teams in him, its gone and wasn't great before.

If we don't get a new GK we're ****ed even before we start, at the very least Mignolet should start the season, he's no great but at least he can save a ball straight at him.

I agree, if he was saving us in some games then it all balances out like Dudek for example who was capable of being brilliant and terrible. Karius doesn't have those great moments he's just ok.
