I agree. I'm not basing my assessment of Alisson on his WC performance. If I was basing it on his appearance in the national team though, then keeping Ederson out must surely be an indicator that he's better than him. Is that not a good thing?

my view is There can be politics at play with choices made of who plays for brazil. As such i don't put much store in the fact that he keeps ederson out.

I'm not sure having seen allison several times exactly how good he is. he doesn't stand out instantly as a world record fee keeper.

That's what really pisses me off, not just about LFC but all the big clubs, they'll spend daft money in fees and wages for overhyped foreigners when there's a wealth of talent already on these shores.

Oversight, laziness and wealth mean decent British players don't get a chance to reach the top, and youth/U23 teams are a waste of time unless there's a stream of them coming through the ranks.<grr>

true, get on the buzzer to kloppo about butland and pickford :bandit:

If we spent 70mil you can bet we've done some serious extensive research. Not what us fans would see.

I'm not saying he's who I want but if he is who we choose it will be because he fits the mould. Personality, training regime etc. Etc. All the things that fans will never see.

From a fans perspective I wish we went for Oblak. But these days I actually trust the club with transfers, seems bizarre as about 5 years ago we were buying **** regularly.

The most important thing is we go into the season with a proper number 1. Karius has to be replaced imo. Even in preseason training he can't catch a ball. Anyone seen that video? Embarrassing state of affairs.

Anyone but that donkey for me.

That video showed that nothing had been learned, his concentration just isn't there.

Yes we've seen that with Firmino. Some national teams e.g. Spain also seem to prefer players who play in Spain. I don't watch world football so I'd never heard of Alisson but at the end of the day, politics or not he must be a very good keeper to be anywhere near the team, surely.

Side note: wasn't De Gea a mess in the WC.

<laugh>

Utter ****e mate.

If it wasn't for what he had done in the final we could laugh it off but all it actually does is show how poor his concentration is and possibly an aspect of technique as well. He should stay and with age perhaps he'll improve but he should be a sub only right now and maybe play League Cup.

Even before the CL final the fans thought he was ****. All these incidents have done is proven that we were right.

Rumours that Gini is thinking about leaving to hook up with his old boss.

Hope not he's been very, very good for us and an important member of the squad.

(and good mates with the VVD)

He did ok leading up to the final but nothing special so what I see is a very average keeper who is prone to the odd (massive) mistake. We need someone who does the basics well and who can then maybe pull off the odd great save.

He ended the season well and was very good at linking up with the forwards at times he can be frustrationg though I wouldn't be gutted if he left.

Need him to make up the numbers and help with rotation

On karius.

TBH I have seen him warm up both in games where he starts and is then only heling whoever is starting and frankly he acts like he doesn't give a stuff unless he is starting at times.

That looks to me like he didn't really give a **** about the game coming and wasn't fully focused.

After whats happened to him i'm sure he still thought a nothing friendly is a piece of piss and he could get away with it.

Its just a case that he hasn't learned isn't it?
