Southampton are reluctant to do business with Liverpool, but The Times claim Chelsea are ready to offer £50m for Van Dijk and are reportedly confident of sealing a deal in the next week.


One that will be music to Liverpool fans' ears, even though it's not an imminent signing, is that top transfer target Naby Keita is almost certainly not signing a new contract with RB Leipzig. The midfielder has been blocked from joining Liverpool this summer, but it looks as though a deal next year could still be in the pipeline.

Coutinho NOT Barcelona's first choice - report
Our hopes are once again in the hands of Don Balon.
The Spanish website, which isn’t exactly always the most reliable, are today reporting that Philippe Coutinho is NOT Ernesto Valverde’s first choice signing at Barcelona.

I don't agree that we were fannying about. We made the mistake of tapping him up (or more accurately, getting caught at it) - after that there was really little else we could do.

After the end of the season, and before the transfer door opens, if we like to bring VVD to Liverpool, it is going to be a crime to keep quiet
about it. Maybe, we over did it, or the agent messed it up, also, maybe Southampton are making mountain out of molehills because they do
not want him to go.

Chelsea submit £50m bid for Van Dijk
Chelsea have offered fellow Premier League club Southampton £50m for the services of Dutch centre-back Virgil Van Dijk as manager Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his defence for the upcoming season, according to a report from The Times.

Conte has been monitoring Van Dijk’s situation since the end of last season and is now ready to beat competition from Liverpool and Manchester City for his signature.

Hmm, not too sure if this is good or bad, tbh. A contract works both ways, and VVD can simply refuse to be sold to Chelsea, but as he's pissed all over his contract...

Besides which, having him done all this to Soton, can anyone really see him turning down the Chavs if they dangle £200k a week in front of him? Certainly, if Soton have to sell they'll damn well make sure it's not to us if they can.

I think it's the second thing, another club bidding opens the door for us to also bid as he is somehow now available and wasn't before <whistle> Tapping up forgiven ....
