LIVERPOOL EYE CACERES

Liverpool are interested in signing Juventus defender Martin Caceres, according to reports in Italy.

Sport Mediaset claim that boss Jurgen Klopp has identified the Uruguayan as a target in January, with Liverpool currently struggled with injuries.

Caceres' current contract expires at the end of the season.

.......

In short another agent looking to stir?

We have one fit striker and no fit CBs but are being linked with every midfielder in the world

Indeed.

It seems to me that those saying klopp is buying nowt might be right.
Linked to everyone because of the new manager's first window. Changing up the squad personnel is whats expected when a new manager has the chance.
Papers are playing transfer battleships, spread your shots around and you'll hit eventually.
And agents will be using us as a bargaining tool, claiming we're interested (because of a new well known manager) to get new contracts.

Yup.

I obviously understand your point but if everyone is fit, the midfield needs the attention. You don't sign players for a couple of weeks, you sign them for at least a couple of years.

LIVERPOOL IN FOR CAULKER

Jurgen Klopp is moving to address his injury problems in defence by making an approach to QPR for defender Steven Caulker, according to Sky sources.

He’s been on loan at Southampton this season but has only made only eight appearances. The deal would be a loan until the end of the current campaign, but without a view to a permanent deal.

Caulker has played against Liverpool this season, in Southampton's 6-1 Capital One Cup defeat by Klopp's side in December.

Replacing Toure (age) and Skrtel (doesn't work at all under Klopp) would still be a priority. Plus a new star striker if Klopp has given up on Sturridge.

Liverpool have approached Queen's Park Rangers to take defender Steven Caulker on loan for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Southampton but that will be cancelled if a deal can be agreed at Anfield.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has been hit by a succession of injuries to central defenders, with Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho all ruled out.

Tiago Ilori was recalled from a loan spell at Aston Villa to play in the FA Cup third round on Friday.

Klopp has been linked with his former Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic and Schalke defender Joel Matip - who could still move to Anfield in the summer - but any potential deals have proved difficult.

Caulker, who won one England cap in 2012, has seen his career stall after moving on loan to St Mary's Stadium after previously playing for Tottenham Hotspur and Cardiff City.

He also had loan spells at Yeovil Town, Bristol City and Swansea City during his time at White Hart Lane.
