I would not say replace Gerrard as I feel he has been replaced. Rodgers just needs to drop the sentiment.

Henderson has taken over from Gerrard and is performing well.

I agree another DM is needed. We also need an alternative to Henderson as Can seems to have moved beyond being just that. Milner is available for a free.

If pace, pressing and running in behind has been the key for us maybe Berahino is a good fit.

    Coutinho----Sterling
    --------Sturridge

    Lallana----Markovic
    ------Berahino

No thanks to Berahino. Will cost around £20m for a player who has performed well in patches for a small club.

We've had plenty of these types of signings over the years and it's part of the reason why we have failed.

Need to stop targeting these 'PL Proven' players because they offer little value.

Berahino for £25m sounds like a typical Liverpool signing, over rated, over hyped and massively over priced.

Agreed and that is the worry seeing as it seems plausible. I like him as a player but not at that price or anywhere near it.

He's a good player but he'd be a gamble and therefore not worth anywhere near the kind of figures being bandied around.

Irvine's departure might mean they'll refuse any bids for him in this window anyway, as I'm sure any new manager would wnat to keep him for the rest of the season

I hope you're right. There are better players for the money mentioned.

Shaqiri is a must for me, going cheap, immensely talented and willing to move.
Cech, well we have to at least try.
Striker and DM, don't know who.

Will Berahino be too similar to Origi when he eventually arrives? we need a proven experienced goal scorer not another expensive kid.

There is one big difference I can see between the two. Berahino is more of a Sturridge type player, quick and slight that runs in behind. Origi is a bigger lad, not a target man big more in the style of Benteke, who can run but also win things in the air.

£23mil is alot for a young lad, I'd hope we could negotiate down to at the most £15-16m

Striker is secondary to a Goalkeeper IMO, then in the summer look for a DM, CB first followed by a CM and Attacking mid (unless they are bought in Jan)

I maintain that GK, CB and midfield should be priorities.

We need to be in a position where we don't have to keep playing or rotate with the likes of Skrtel, Gerrard, Lucas, Lovren.

If we're after an attacker, we would be foolish to turn down Shaqiri but we would also need a proper striker. I think Lacazette is the ideal option but cannot see him moving in January. Therefore I wouldn't want us to waste money on a second option when this team already has goals in it.

If we do any business id take Shaqiri and Cech if we can. Id like Odegaard and Ali but that can wait until the summer and are not immediate first team options imo

We are linked with Luciano Vietto touted the next Sergio Aguero. 21 yrs old and plays for Villarreal.

Probably better than Berahino if youtube is anything to go by. That said we signed the next Zinedine Zidane so...... Bruno Cheyrou

I would find that link to the Villarreal kid far more plausible right now, it's turned up in the echo as well as mirror correct?

For me ok he's moved last summer once and is now worth double but he's at the right level for us to look at.

Bernie the contract sitter at west brom is a stupid price so for me spurs can have him!!!

Looks quick and skilful but don't know much about him. Doesn't look like he has as much strength as Aguero, looks slighter in build soyou'd think he'd have to play upfront with someone rather than be up there on his own.

Seems to have a decent reputation though and is playing in a top league already.

He's young and we'd be paying once more for potential. Not saying he'll never be a top player in the future, but we need top players today.
