Probably helped that Chelsea gave him to Benfica for nothing in exchange for Luiz but get the point, shows that you can buy quality for £20m.
Under Rafa we seriously lacked goals until Torres sign but had a great defense. Some strike pairings Rafa had pre Torres Baros and Cisse Just Baros Baros Morientes Morientes Crouch Fowler Morientes Cisse Crouch Just Crouch Kuyt Bellamy They are not exactly the most inspiring. None are great goal getters.
You could say that back then, competition for top 4 was a lot weaker than it is now though. I don't know, but now you couldn't get top 4 with a **** attack. Back then you had Spur and Everton occasionally challenging, now you have City, Spurs & Everton.
West ham and Southampton are not really in the race, everyone knows it. Like lfc one or two injuries and it all falls apart
Liverpool are ready to test Aston Villa's resolve by trying to sign midfielder Fabian Delph, 25, and centre-back Ron Vlaar, 29, in a £15m deal, with both players out of contract next summer. Liverpool have offered striker Fabio Borini, 23, to Lazio in exchange for Nigeria midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, 22. (Sunday Express)

£15m for Vlaar and Delph. No thanks. Never heard of the Nigerian guy from Lazio... according to Fifa stats, he's athletic and likes a long shot. However, doesn't stand out in any other aspect and is only 5'8 and not very strong. A more athletic Joe Allen?
god..... rodgers has more of a hpobia baout his height tham tom cruise... surrounding oneself with midget players to componsate... if we all pitch in for a pair of stilts do you think rodgers would stop injuring sturridge... is this the real reason balotelli hasn't fitted in? height?
He does clearly favour the short guys. I'm surprised Skrtel gets a look in. - Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier is reportedly looking to take Steven Gerrard to New York City in the summer. The Frenchman is now sporting director at New York Red Bulls and is said to be hoping that his close relationship with the man who he made Liverpool captain back in 2003 will convince Gerrard to move to the MLS. Gerrard's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Houllier is said to be one of a number of potential suiters. However the Reds captain has been offered a new deal at Anfield and manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to see the 34-year-old extend his career on Merseyside. - Would any one take Milner on a fee in the summer? Good experienced utility midfielder.
I'd take Milner on a free, absolutely. Very underated. He's not a winger, doesn't have the pace or trickery but as a CM, he offers good energy and all round play. Can run with it, can pass, sets up goals and chips in with a few. Does a job anywhere you ask
Why the **** would we bid for them if they're our of contract in the summer unless we're that desperate now. Okay, maybe we are Poor business sense to spend now what we can have free in the summer. We need to talk to the players and secretly 'tap them up' to not sign a new contract, or put in a transfer request now so Villa are forced into accepting cheap deals. On a separate note I would 100% take Milner on a free. Good player - I thought people had realised that now?!
Where's the Milner rumours coming from?? Not sure he's what we need, too similar to Henderson. Those above who'd have him would you play Milner and bench Henderson?? For a free though, you've got to be joking, he's got at least 15 million value in him. We should sell Gerrard to America.
It depends on the role Can plays. We lack energy if Henderson cant play and Henderson gets burnt out from being over played. Can wants to play DM so Milner could compete with Henderson, or alternatively he could play with him in a diamond if we need extra presence that Coutinho or Allen cannot give. We also could do with a maturer option in midfield. I'm 100% for signing Milner. - In other news, I feel pretty sure that we will sign Berahino this month. Probably for £20m+. Not sure on the fee but he will be a good fit.
milners, vlaar and delph are all out ogf contract.... anyone see the connections? LFC are after guys with no transfer fee accrding to the press... they ignore the huge wage milner is after. also i didn't know america has a football team that could buy gerrard but if so i demand 1 billion dollars... thats 4 pound 50p right?
