Konate seemingly agreed terms with Madrid. 2 days after saying didn’t know would be his last game for LFC has agreed to go there.

Doesn’t quite add up but there we go. I’m sure he’ll get the same reception as TAA if/when he returns. Which will be a very different reaction to Salah or Robbo if/when they return. Albeit Salah saying he won’t be back at Anfield for a while suggests maybe he’s going Saudi rather than anywhere in europe.

I'm sure he'll get a reaction but it won't be too the level Trent got, Trent got special treatment for being a local lad

Maybe not quite but anyone going to Madrid on a freebie is getting a poor reaction. Do wonder if agent saw what TAA got and played a better hand by saying still negotiating with Liverpool etc.

Maybe Konate reduced his demands to reignite the Madrid interest....

But concerning that we're seeing so many players running their contracts down though. Understandable when they're older like Mo and Virg but we should be cashing in on players like Trent and Konate before they leave for free (obviously, we can't force them to leave though)

Don't feel as bad as with Trent, but this is my vibes about him.

Gomez Jones and Ali all have 1 year left.

szobo is the big one with 2 years - has to be tied down in next 6 months or think about selling.

Understand Gomez and Ali, Jones need to tied down (or reluctantly sold).

Fully expect Zobo to sign again soon but suspect he'll want to wait to see what happens with the manager

I keep seeing media outlets talking about our budget and the need to rebuild. We don't need a rebuild FFS, most of these players won the league with us 12mths ago, we need a reset is all. Obviously, couple of signings too but that's the case every summer.

Agree we don't need a rebuild, just a reset and a couple of signings, but since the league win we'll have lost Salah, Jota, Nunez, Diaz, Endo, Trent, Robertson, Konate, Kelleher and Quansah. They weren't all starters, but that's a lot of the team gone. The main ones who are still there are Allison (lots of rumours), VVD (last season?), Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szob, Jones and Gakpo, then a few like Gomez, Bradley, Tsimikas, Elliot and Chiesa. Outside the midfield that's not many first 11 players.

We've got three exceptional forwards in ekitike, Isaak and wirtz. With reasonable back up from gakpo.

Getting them 3 fit and working as a unit is vital. 3 across the front doesn't fit so surely a change or at least a tweak to formation is needed.

Grav, Mac and slob is a good midfield badly utilised last season. Again the two 6's thing really doesn't fit.

The defence is an unknown. I was more than happy with kerkez last season. I like frimpong but he's a very attacking right back, sticking him on the right wing is pointless.

A tweak to the formation and we've still got a good base to work from. We need more than 1 or 2 signings though. The depth is depressingly thin.

I think Irola will get the best out of Frimpong, just like he knows how to use Kerkez.

Big news in the academy - Josh Abe who is tipped as the next big thing signed pre contract. Was interest from all top clubs and apparently a huge offer from city to lure him away.

Also talk of signing another player from Leicester academy (Darren Motsi) who is 15 and was playing under 21 football this year. Meant to be another good player after signing Nyoni from there.

With the talk of unrest at the academy under Slot reign, wonder if his sacking has had any impact on the above.

We still have a phenomenal amount of cash to play with, though. Okay, we lost money on Ibou, but it's freed up his wages, and if a few players like Chiesa, Gakpo, and possibly Macca go this summer, then there'll be even more wiggle room. Don't forget, the net spend last summer was @£250m on transfers, not the headline £500m the media likes to spout, and really, that needs to be spread across the two previous years as we'd spent buttons since the 2023 summer window compared to all the other 'top six' clubs, and even others like Villa and Forest.

On top of that, the revenue figures for this year, which include astronomical kit and merchandise sales from last July onwards, are supposedly mind-blowing. Iraola will have a reasonable kitty to work with, but there almost certainly won't be super-marquee buys like Wirtz and Isak - thankfully. But we need more than a 'couple' - we need backup fullbacks (not megabuys), a reasonable DM, we've got a CB coming, and probably need one more, and we're lining up a winger. Don't be surprised if we net spend another £200m, but I hope Hughes doesn't have the final say in it all.

I was focusing more on the "rebuild" claim tbh mate

It’s a semi rebuild. We’ve lost a lot of the team that won the league.

RB, CB, #6, #8, 2 wingers

6 players imo. Adding to the squad we already have. My all accounts we are going to need the legs.

I agree, but I think we need an LB as well: I dread to think what will happen if Kirky gets injured (or just needs a rest in certain early cup ties) and we've only got an aging Kostas to rely on.

Yeah, ageee. It’s several players needed. That’s a lot to bed in so I hope we get them early .
