Surprised we haven’t been interested in senesi. 29 so bit of a stop gap but free signing. Not stupid wages. Standout CB for Bournemouth, good on the ball and left footed. Seems Perfect to bridge the vvd sized whole that will appear in that LCB spot and while we try bring Leoni and Jacquet up to speed.
tbh the way he's played this season, he doesn't have to be leaving for there to be a VvD sized hole at CB
next season is the last of his present contract and no way will it be extended due to his wages
The club seems to be in a mess at the moment. Losing 3 players for nothing this year. There is 8 players out of contract next summer (VVD, Alisson, Gomez, Jones, Endo, Bajectic (remeber him) Davies and Ramsay). Slot, Edwards and Hughes all out of contract next summer I have no idea how contracts have been able to get so low for so many players. Szobs and Mcallister only have 2 years left on their contracts. The only renewals of note ln last couple of years is VVD and Salah but these were in the last 6 months of their contracts and Gravenberch, Bradley and Gakpo.
At some stage we are going to need to pay a premium to get some home grown talent as we are losing a lot without replacing them.

I'm assuming that Konaté wants too much dosh and the club won't pay it. I'm sympathetic to that attitude, but I do wonder how we get around it. I've said all along that I wouldn't have given in to Salah's demands as I believed it would start a domino effect.
I agree that we should be making "stars" rather than buying them, but you still have the problem that when they become big names they're going to want the big money or they'll be off.
We see some mid-table clubs that seem to find a continuous supply of up-and-coming players who move on as they develop, but I can't see that model working for us.

we must have a RB , reserve LB , RW/RF and preferably a defensively minded CM .
really hope we try to increase squad depth but be willing to walk away if the price is not equitable unlike last season

Doesn't matter if we have a hundred player squad if Slot is only going to trust a handful of them and just play Gakpo every game regardless
When Konate leaves we'll have VvD & Gomez as senior CBs. Jacquet as young and new & Leoni and young and basically on his first season after a major injury.
We're going to need another senior CB.

We need 2, at least. Gomez is injury-prone, and Virgil is too old to be playing 50+ games a season.
