It looks like we’re interested in one of Ramsey or Rabiot - both out of contract soon.

After our big spending summer, will be interesting to see what we do in the transfer market over the next year. My money is on free transfers and young potential....that is before they become young expensive potential! Can’t see big money being spent again unless we sell big

    I think so too.

If we were to spend big it will be to replace one of our starting 11 and to be worth the money for the upgrade. I can’t see who would be available and who would be replaced?

Ffp has to come into play.

We have seen psg utterly flout the rules.

Can city invent revenue to get round the rules.

We can do neither. If our low net spend the prior two years are considered we are maybe "ok" but we should only be buying one or two and moving on players.

    E.g..

    Mingolet out = keeper in.
    Clyne might go.
Origi will go 100%, a wide forward may be desired.
Sturridge contract will be up. Can't see us giving him anything bar a 1 year IF he stays fit this year.

A lot of work to be done

Doesn’t ffp take an average over a 3 year spell? Given our paltry net spend in the two prior years, the increase in tv money and the sale of Couthino, I think we’ll be fine for ffp. Although I can see our net spend returning to a more modest sum again. CL progress is key in that regard as it gives us real Incremental revenue to compete for the best players.

Sturridge will go. We all know that the minute he has to play 90 minutes a week (at least), he’ll break down.

Moreno is also out of contract.

I’d like to see at least one more of the kids break through this year......in readiness for next year - was a real shame we drew Chelsea in the league cup.

So as of today we are good but this year's transfers will affect the next 2?

As in we get no credit for the last two years in a years time really.

We might have saved 150 mil to spend over 2.5 years but cos we then spent it we cannot spend next year or more accurately perhaps the year after?

Thats why transfer fees are split over many years so not only what you pay doesn’t come back in one go, but what you receive comes through in diff years to keep revenue ticking over

I have no clue how the Fifa ffp calculations work tbh and frankly, you have to ask if it’s worth taking any notice at all, given PSG’s spending.

But I believe I read that our net spend over three years was £112m when Utd’s was £350m ish over same period.

Buying big in the same financial year as selling Couthino was critcical imo as our income and spend will fall off the 3 year timeline at the same time.

Otherwise we look in pretty good shape - a net spend of £40m pa is peanuts in today’s market. Especially when you consider that we earned more than that from the CL final run alone.

net spend isn't that important in FFP terms as the whole cost of each player is take into account so just giving Gomez an improved contract would effect our FFP. The whole revenue versus expenditure of club (with some exceptions i.e. stadia improvements) is used to determine FFP which is why there are constant queries regarding the sponsorship deals in the cases of ManC & PSG as the companies involved are linked to the cllubs owners.

apparently de gea wants pay parity with Sanchez but it's think cos real.are out of picture they can get him for less.

cue psg rumours starting in papers.

if you make a mistake like Sanchez it will keep hurting you

Its why giving Can a new huge contract with a release clause may seem like a good idea to keep him and not lose him on a free but if it then means you have to up 5/6 others contracts and start inserting release clauses in current and new recruits contracts then long term is may cost you more than you’d save in getting a transfer fee for them.

All about long term picture and not setting a precedent.

    very true.

can was not Suarez. he was a no 6 and if we don't want release clauses at the club then letting him go and using summery there is ok.

if keeping can meant top 4.. maybe it did maybe it didn't in the end then... well.. that's what we did.

    I agree totally.
I'm so glad we didn't bend over for Can, it would have been a huge mistake.

imo the story today is de gea' s agent just reminding Utd he is not without options.

the fact is the lad has already let 3 cls slip through his fingers. he might as well make it all about money now.

Utd will activate his year extension on his already huge contract and seek to sign a new deal as late as possible.

psg are in enough trouble already without courting more on his wages
