You must have missed some posts somewhere along the line or joined in half way through the convo.

I never said hes he's not a good squad player for mancs. Someone said about him moving to another team, my point was, who would buy him? None of the top 6 would buy him. So from 7th down who would? Yeah he'd be decent option for few of those teams, but as he's on 100k a week, for those teams that is a **** load of money, the type of money you spend on a star player. Would lingaard be a star player for West Ham, Everton, saints etc? I don't think so, so why would they justify 100k and a fee of probably 20m on him?

Thought i read somewhere similar to that but couldn't find it when i went back just that some people were having a dig at United (after the youth vs no youth argument) that lingard was pretty old (SURPRISINGLY!) and being paid 100k to be a squad player.

I think that's where football is headed though for the teams in the top 6 so i can't see how that is such a big dig.

Cant say seen enough. 7 goals in 25 games when on loan in holland is decent enough return for 19 year old.

No offence but i'm not counting that. he might be the next big thing (see Ibe, Ojo, Sinclair, Pacheco, Suso etc etc) but hes had about 90 minutes in the league.

Even Chelsea this season have given more to their youth and i would say we are probably the worse club in giving our youth a chance (zouma, ake, Chalobah).

but, he's on 20k at Liverpool (Great money for anyone really). Would he really get more money at Liverpool than moneybags Chelsea? I'm not sure. So the question is why is he moving to Liverpool? If it's to progress and play regular football at top level competion, then i think he's made the wrong move to go to liverpool and that's where my criticism is . Especially since Klopp has said he's being dumped in the under 23's, you only play one striker and you have about 4 players ahead of him in your team ahead of him (origi, sturridge, firmino, probably woodburn, probably Ings)

I agree, I hope that with TAA and Woodburn that we have 2 who are able to step up they certainly look capable of it but as you pointed out we have been here before.

What I hope happens with some of our younger lads is that they get to play in cups next season alongside seasoned pros and not in a team full of young lads like last season. I hope Klopp learned that lesson.

Klopp has shown in the past he will play the youth players if they are good enough at dortmund. I don't think he has necessarily done this though in the past season and a half. We will see if this is through necessity (Dortmund don't really have the bucks you do) but i guess we'll see .

Seriously. he's debuted a massive amount and set some of them clear goals to get a sniff.

Perfect example is ojo. Lad got a few games last year in cups when europa was on and then got injured. He's basically been told by klopp that if he wants to play he needs to actually run full pelt when playing u23s not jogging about. in other words he needs to play like he's playing a first team game. thus far... no ojo near LFC sneior team.

contrasting example: alexander arnold. given debut. told exactly the same. Kid goes back to u23s and smashes it up. He's made a spot for himself on our bench as a result.

the issue at anfield is this:

GK u23? ward sent to hudderfield to learn. a couple young lads but none really good enough
Rb: TAA to firsts
LB, none are up to it. not one
CB: ditto. Brewiit is ok but he's not at the level
CM: we've released adam phillips this summer, injuries.. none of the rest really up to it. Ejaria is a signing and he's done "ok" Yan Dhana is ok but again has an awful lot to do. Woodburn is a no 10.
Wings: wilson, ojo all got a little time
St: Rhian Brewster is the one affected by solanke arriving imo. he is 17.

Its not like the LFC u23s is a conveyor belt really. theres players klopp has plucked out and borught to senior squad to develop


finally... Look at sturridge. Left city very similarly and went to cheslea. Cheslea loaned him to bolton then sold him. Could be this guy is thinking LFC, 2 years, yeah why not few cup games her and there, maybe get a loan out in january then to some champ side and i'll be set for a move then.

my point is you don't bring youth through period. why he left. he saw zero chance where is is.

Danny ward played euros for wales (group game) and all season in champioship so for a guy we signed as a kid he's not done too bad.

Kent went to barnsely. played ok

Ojo is not rotting on any bench. he's not even making one. He got a back injury and lost the year but as i said klopp's told him to actually work like its a senior game not piss about cos its easy u23 game

Wilson socred 30 odd in u23s last year and is in wales squad. looks a bit kiddie to me and needs to grow up but at 20... not much time.

Sinclair was a signing who thought he was it and chose to move so we let him on.

Ibe... brain dead. lots of talent but again a signing. Just shows zero game intelligence and final delivery. hhuge talent at his disposal. 15mil was ace fee.

The real point is not big signings you made but kids bought at 14/15 or players from age 8. they were all falling in this category.

Now TAA might make it as he had some great appearances, but right now he's a backup player to the Liverpool team. I would argue he isn't even used rotationally, only in games Klopp deem unimportant or if Clyne is injured. A space on the reserves bench isn't really great for his development (yet but he has only burst onto the scene).

We consistently have Ake, Chalobah, Zouma Ruben Loftus Cheek on the bench in our supposedly world class squad. They aren't getting much time though and i don't think that is helping their development.

All these players you are mentioning, Danny Ward, Ojo, Wilson, you are naming as having developed as you are loaning them out.

You could say the same for Chelsea and the masses of youth we buy when they are 15/16/17.

You haven't developed in them playing in your team, if you are counting them having developed cause you sent them away and they are doing well then i'm sorry, Chelsea are up there in youth development then.

Traore, Ake, Chalobah, Bamford all got games consistently and did okay/well at clubs on their loans. Now they are "breaking" into the first team or far more developed than when they first joined Chelsea if i was to use your same reasoning

TAA gets u23 games if he doesn't play and is gaining experience training with firsts.. really simple. You just have been indoctrinated into the cheslea buy them laon them sell them model.

I'm saying KLOPP GAVE THEM A CHANCE. THAT'S ALL COS YOU SAID KLOPP DOESN'T GIVE PLAYERS A CHANCE LIKE AT DORTMUND.

All i'm saying is where a guy was any good he got a chance. we simply don't have that many who are good enough.

The simple fact is you are saying solanke won't get a chance and i'm pointing out theres a huge opportunity for him to slot right into u23 and be first in line for a game in league cup and then he can stake his claim.

I'm not trashing an 18 year old at all. He's done well and he looks like one for the future. As to him being close to a first teamer when hes had:
1 start 90 mins,
1 sub appearance of 45 mins
1 at 17 minutes
1 at 12 minutes
3 at 1 minute i'm saying he's very far away from even being a rotation squad player and is at most a backup player. His big minute appearances is due to clyne being injured more than him being a rotational player. If this is what constitutes of having developed a player then Chelsea have just as many. Thats not to say he won't go on to become a massive player for you but just at this current time, he's done F all like Ibe (granted Ibe actually got quite a lot of time and it's not particularly liverpools fault in this instance, TAA hasn't yet).

You were the one that brought up players who were bought in. Danny Ward was bought from Wrexham at 17 and it was you who used him as an example .

At the end of the day, we were debating Solanke moving for first team opportunities which Liverpool haven't really been doling out recently. If by youth team developement meant loaning him out to other clubs to play then he would probably do as well at Chelsea as he does at Liverpool.
