Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has said his motivation to leave the club this summer is down to their lack of ambition and his own desires to win trophies during his career.
The Daily Mail's Dominic King provided quotes from Lukaku, who was speaking at a Kick It Out event at Everton's training ground on Tuesday, having also confirmed he won't sign a new contract at Goodison Park:

for me the question here must be simply this:

what can we afford to do?

IMO to retain a top 4 slot (if we even get one) we will need to spend about 100mil

Ignore the CL totally right... ok we get 4th and go to groups and do whatever.. thats fine but its over 38 league games in ultra competitive top 6... we just cannot go with the team we have. We lack real quality.

Need a defence.. thats CB, LB and player in fornt of that. Need a bit more creativity in midfield.... desperately need a striker.

Utd have zlatan, spurs have kane, cheslea have costa, le arse have sanchez and giroud, city have aguero and jesus.... we have firmino who will NEVER get 20 league goals in his life.

Thats a LOAD of work to do in one window.

Cna we afford to get a good CB and LB or will we get "potential"

Scoring goals does not seem to be our problem (League top scorer). Our midfield and defence have to improve significantly.

You sort one end and you lose the other.

Plus reality. If you want to beat the **** sides you want one chance one goal

As i said before go into more seasons with firmino and dont be shocked you get 6th.

Liverpool & Arsenal are interested in Polish defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, who is considering leaving PSG. [Le Parisien]

The ball winning hard man we need ...

No doubt we need to replace Studge and give Firmino competition, Origi isn't it but lets give him time. So a striker in? Yeah deffo or if not another forward like Mane who can score.

yeah, mane is very good finisher for a winger. not as good as some we've seen but i' back him 1:1

Firmino.. he blasts it.

Origi.. could do with a prem loan for a season. i think a season with say bournemouth would help him

Sturrige and ings are dead ducks

The old saying used to be that the bests teams have two essentials - a great keeper and a great striker. Test it out - look at the best performing teams, do they have both? Obviously the very best teams have a great everything but look at Leicester last year, they had both. Address those two positions first and then strengthen everywhere else.

yeah that is true. and a CB as well

Barca kind of mess it up though <whistle>

But yes just about every title winning side i can think of in england going back to the 80s have had it

l'arse in 1991. seaman and 1-0 smith
leeds. lukic and chapman (and cantona)
utd yada yada
blackburn. flowers and shearer

etcetc

the other commn thread is most of those sides ALSO had a CB partner ship and good CMs and all, just like you say.

Last year and this year were the best times to win the league for us. It's going to get tougher and tougher from next season.
Chelsea would like to retain the crown(if they are the winner)
Manchester city are going to be there
Manchester United (Jose Mourinho would like to prove something)
Arsenal (top four specialist) are going to stand up and be counted.
Tottenham are there also.
Tough call.!

we cannot know this dribs.

hindsight is wonderful as well.

Nobody would have predicted chelsea in 10th or wahever after winning it.
Nobody would have predicted utd's fall to 7th and scraping by for how many years now <laugh>

What we can say is irrespective of 2013/14 or last year chances will come and go. but the best team each year will take it.

Thats why tottenham have never done it. They get picked clean all the time.

Imagine spurs if poch goes to PSG. Kane to utd and alli to :bandit: us. ure they'd have 150mil in the bank to spend but what could they do with it.

Imagine arsneal with a changed manager. tey could implode for 2/3 year or be great who knows.

So... lets just work to improve as much as possible but as fans lets not accept stupidity form the club eh?

we've accepted enough of that in the past.

Liverpool are considering a swoop for Fulham's highly-rated teenager Ryan Sessegnon. [HASHTAG]#lfc[/HASHTAG] (James Pearce)

along with everyone else it seems....

Looks quick and for 16 year old scored few goals from LB/LW. Not sure how good he is defensively. Seems like going to be bidding war for him and could be an expensive one.

For him, he's better playing at Fulham for another year or two. Moving to us or any of other clubs mentions and he'll just sit in reserves for year or two. Saying that if we sign him I wouldn't be disappointed, maybe a sign and loan back to Fulham.

Pearce was only recently quote as saying lfc linked ro 100 lbs but nothing real in any of it. If he is late to the party and saying this no there must be something in it.

Also... reports are its all but done and fulham have not denied it strangely.

Ryan Sess seems a good shout. Not expected to slot straight into the first 11 but could be important as an extra option with injuries etc and has the potential to develop into a top class player!
