My issue is that it isn't panic buying. It's buying that's been needed for ages. He's the one who's labelled it panic buying just so that he can say to the media that we shouldn't do it. Who exactly is telling him that he should panic buy? No-one. The people telling him to buy are doing so regardless of that result and have done for a long time. He's using 'panic buying' as an excuse right now in case he can't sign anyone.
If he signs someone he'll say 'we planned this anyway'. If he signs no-one he's got the 'not going to panic buy' already on the table.
Cech was a good buy and an upgrade. Which is what we need to do in two other positions too. So why are those two positions considered panic buys now when we've needed them just as much as a GK?
