Deals don't have to be fully completed by 11pm. There's an extra hour or so they allow for finalisation.

About Nastasic, I'm pretty sure Pellegrini said he had a knee problem that they just couldn't figure out. He had pain in his knee, but nobody seemed to know why. Seems very unlikely we could get him, although at his age and ability, if injury free, he could be a top player.

Speaking of Diaby, where is he? Did the club ever actually confirm he was injured again?

I think they are just being overly cautious with him. He did an interview for Arsenal.com not long ago and didnt mention any injury.

We could give him to the quack that looks after Diaby sorted

Signing Welbeck shows Wenger did want a striker all along, and he's brought in one who's not even as good as Giroud. Massively disappointing. No centre back, no defensive midfielder, and a 2nd rate striker. Wenger should walk.

He only signed him because Giroud got injured. I don't think he wanted one all along. I know Welbeck isn't a marquee signing but he's a decent acquisition and will give us another dimension up front this season.

For all the moaning, we're better off going into this season with Welbeck than without him.

He's better than Giroud. Younger, quicker, more technically gifted. - Got a good feeling he is going to surprise a few people.

Think he's a quality signing. (providing it actually gets done in time)

Seeing Chelsea pull off such a great transfer window really shows us what could have been. Liverpool and City have both done their business efficiently as well

So on SSN they are saying it will take another couple of hours to get the Welbeck deal done and we have applied for the extension being confident the deal will be done.

I must be the only one who thinks Wellbeck will be good for us
Like an unplanned child who turns into an amazing human being and makes his parents proud

If he didn't want one all along, he should have, and that's his failing. Welbeck has scored 20 goals in 90 apps for Man Utd. No CB, no DM, consistently leaving the team short of players in key positions. This isn't a team that will challenge for the title, it's a team that will be scrabbling for top 4 again. Short on firepower, short on defensive cover. I hope Welbeck turns out to be the striker we all want & scores 20+, but he's a last minute panic buy due to previous ineptitude. Wenger out.

Thats the transfer window closed.

Looks like Welbeck will be done. Unless something else is going on behind the scenes that we weren't told about then thats it.

I think he'll do well too. Let's hope those whinging about the deal can still get behind him <ok>

Disappointed with lack of CB but happy with Welbeck. Sanchez, Debuchy, Ospina, Chambers, Welbeck. Not a bad window. Guess Kos, BFG, Chambers and Hayden (if necessary) can hold the CB positions until January and DM situation is unchanged, though Diaby might be used there from time to time if he maintains fitness. Wonder what will happen when Theo is fit? Maybe Sanchez moved to LW.
