Let's not forget that it's a huge amount of money for a guy who'll only have another few seasons at his prime who's also just coming out of a serious injury which can have serious consequences on his future ability, fitness and thus future worth. It'd be a massive risk for anyone.

Im sure the rose-tinted brigade will say there were no decent strikers available despite the fact that...

Falcao
Suarez
Diego Costa
Mandzukic
Mario Ballotelii
Lewandowski
Lukaku

have all moved this window.

Here's a list of strikers that would significantly improve our squad and could still move in the next 24hrs.

1. Edison Cavani - Would cost a small fortune but the guy has scored 138 goals in his last 4 Seasons. Absolutely World Class.
2. Huntelarr - Prolific throughout his career. Would fit our system and despite being in his 30's is playing the best football of his career.
3. Benzema - Long term target of Arsene's. Unlikley to move as he recently signed a new deal but the arrival of Falcao has put his place at jeopardy.
4. Jackson Martinez - Strong and quick with a very good goalscoring record.
5. Destro - Tall and skillful. Would be a decent backup for Giroud.
6. Negredo - Very similar to Giroud in style, seems ready made for the EPL.
7. Batshuayi - Only 20 but is the biggest prospect in the Belgian League.
8. Llorente - Tall, technical with a good goals to games ratio.
9. Wellbeck - I'm one of the few that actually rates this guy. Not been given a chance in his best position. Mobile and skilful.
10. Benteke - Currently injured but.. looks a FAR better prospect than Sanogo.

Immobile, Cerci, Abel Hernandez, Remy, Jay Rodriguez, Carlos Bacca would also all be better than what we currently have... cheap strikers who can do a job and won't cost the earth

It's either Falcao or a half fit Giroud and an inexperienced Sanogo for the rest of the season.

I'd take falcao for 55m or a loan for 20m. He's immense and would take us up a level. If we get that transfer done tomorrow it would be incredible. We'd be proper contenders.

Looks certain to join Man Utd if he moves, their spending likely to total £200m in one window, just insane....

Falcao. Lol. No way wenger would sanction 55mil for a 29 year old who's just been out for months with ACL injury. No way.

Negredo would be a shout tho. I rate him highly and he's been left out of City's European squad, so he won't be happy right now

I think you'd struggle to find any manager that would take up such a risk.

Arsenal still open to signing a striker - Arsene Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is aiming to bring in a new striker before the transfer window closes on Monday.
With key forward Olivier Giroud out injured, the Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw by newly-promoted Leicester on Sunday, despite having 24 shots.
After the match, Wenger was asked about his attacking options and said: "We are very active in the window. We are working hard to find a solution.
"Nobody can predict what will happen in the next 24 hours.

we need to sign a striker that looks like he can actually put ball in the back of the net.
we need to sign a defensive midfielder who has physical presence i.e. one that has height rather than short arses like we currently have

What I'm struggling to understand is AW's lack of faith in Joel Campbell.
The guy was scaring defences at the World Cup but seems to be way down the pecking order for us...

Wenger has said he doesn't want Campbell to leave the club, so he's showing a degree of faith, but I know what you mean. It's like he's in limbo right now; he's too good to ship out but not good enough to play. Surely this has to change soon.

Rumours Defoe is returning to the Prem Lge tomorrow, I sincerely hope he's heading to somewhere like Loftus Road and isn't AW's idea of a striker solution....

This is just ridiculous. It's deadline day AGAIN. Arsenal STILL need a striker, and a DM, and a CB. Whether it's Wenger or Gazidis or Law, whoever is stuffing up the transfer windows on a consistent basis needs to be cut loose. Heads should roll for this.

Apparently a Colombian TV presenter has said Falcao will join Arsenal.I'm starting to think this is a ploy by Falcao & his agent to force Real Madrid's hand.
It's now time for a Carvalho rumour.Pedro Pinto (Portuguese journalist) has said Carvalho has said his farewells to SCP and is on his way to Arsenal.

yeah

as long as we sign some real quality in the window

He kinda reminds me of Hitler in "Downfall"

" Steiners counter offensive will solve all of these problems "

"err, about that Steiner offensive thing ..........it didnt happen "

m m m meltdown !
