Cue people pretending they have an extensive knowledge of the Portuguese/Belgian leagues, and that they've been keeping an eye on Carvalho for years.
Seriously though what's with these ridiculous transfer fees associated with this kid?

If we signed Carvalho I would be happy with our squad for the coming season.
I bet the Standard are copying the story from that Portuguese outlet .Evening Standard are now reporting that we have made an offer for Carvalho

Basically people have heard of Google, and believe this makes their knowledge superior.I remember people slagging Wenger off for not signing M'Vila and Capoue despite probably never seeing a Rennes or Toulouse game in their lives. All power to those who may well spend hours and hours every day watching games from around the world who have at least some knowledge of the respective leagues but I would be amazed if anyone outside the profession could, for instance, tell either of the Bender brothers apart in terms of their 'maturity' or even what the strengths and weaknesses are of nearly all the players we're linked to.

Barcelona have been cut to 4/11 favourites to land Thomas Vermaelen from Arsenal after overnight press speculation. Manchester United are now available at 2/1. Also we are being linked to Daniel Agger.
Always rated Agger but doubt Rodgers would sell to us.

Agger would be an excellent backup CB.F*ck Agger. I don't want to replace an occasionally great but error/injury prone CB with another.
