If its getting him on a free then yes that would be the case. However here a transfer fee is involved so we can still sign him now but loan him back or agree for the deal now but delay it till the end of the season. Although I don't see the point in that. I am guessing MihaelaAkela33 meant get something in place so we don't get beaten to the chase in the summer.
I was thinking more along the lines of a verbal agreement of some kind, to keep him out of Bayern's clutches but I don't know much about it, admittedly.
yes, I'm sure that can happen. If Bayern are interested, I'm not sure why he would want to limit his options. Also depends whether Schalke are willing to sell? If not, it becomes tapping up.
A lot of rumours of us chasing Draxler and him being injured for a long period of time. Some people are saying he is injured for a couple of weeks too. What does sound real is our interest in Draxler, he fits the Arsene choice to a tee. We will find out if we are truly interested in him and if he's out injured for a lengthy period very soon. All rumours until Schalke and Arsenal confirm all these at the end of the window.
Draxler is a great talent, and it's interesting that he is being compared to RVP. He does have the size and talent to play as a lone CF in the future, but not sure he has that killer instinct in front of goal or that movement Van Persie has. Draxler himself reckons that his best position is as a number 10, but we already Mr Ozil doing that role for us.

Yes the rumours seems to be strong.
Great - Another young French 2nd division striker. This time doesn't even average 1 in 3 goals to games.
But Auxerre TV are saying the agreed fee is 10m EUR, which seems madness to me for a 21 year old from league 2. I mean Koscielny had a season in Lorient to prove himself in ligue 1, and we got him around that amount.

There's a direct quote from Auxerre's president saying that Arsenal haven't even made contact, so this seem more plausible than the speculation.
I didn't know he was going for that much! But it seems that contact wasn't even made with their club.
All the speculation was based on a Rennes reserve team player tweeting that we'd sign Ntep (from Auxerre) and then loan him to Rennes straight away. Quite why that makes it true or why he'd know is beyond me!
I'm relieved myself as £7-10m for an unproven ligue 2 player with, at best, an average goal scoring record seems very steep. Especially when those sort of dollars can be better used elsewhere and we already have an unproven Auxerre striker!
