Apparently tomorrow is the UEFA deadline for registering players for the play offs. Can anybody confirm this? Ridiculous if true.

If this is the case, it's stupid - Celtic got to register Boerrigter the day before their Third Round first leg tie vs. Elfsborg. Why should it be a different rule for the Play-off round?

Jamie Sanderson says Arsenal are prepared to pay Gustavo £160K a week <yikes>

Who do you rate more highly, him, Paulinho or Sandro? Should be an interesting contest when we play them at the Emirates in a few weeks. I was going to add.. if he even comes of course.

Gustavo, easily. Maybe I am overrating him, I just think he is unbelievably good. I rate Sandro very highly, haven't seen much of Paulinho apart from the confeds where he looked pretty good.

From the translation:

He'll undoubtedly be linked to top clubs from each league until he leaves.

I think we're still favourites, but we need to agree terms quickly and not dither over this transfer. I would be gutted should another Higuain situation develop.

Not even getting remotely excited about us potentially signing Gustavo. This has been the summer for false dawns at Arsenal. We will probably drag this potential deal into the last day of the transfer window, as well.

Then Chelsea will step in and tie it up in a day while we're fumbling around looking for our special transfer pen.

Very gettable target with a price that Wenger likes. Get this done and dusted quicker rather than to the wire. So what if he goes for a little more, he'll still be a lot cheaper than what Man City and a few others pay for their players. We always get a good deal no matter what.

I'm sure Wenger, Gazidis & Law are doing their absolute most to bring in some top top quality players. Let's not forget that they've shipped out all the deadwood this summer, and we've been calling for that for YEARS now. Wenger is one of the best, and most respected managers in the world, and players are attracted to Arsenal because of him. Just be patient, there's almost 3 weeks left of the transfer window, and 5 days til the season starts. Wenger knows the limitations of the squad, he will buy.

He was at least - wether he still is still remains to be seen IMO.

Can he still build a title winning side on a mid sized budget? In the modern transfer era?

He has shown he can still sign World beaters at a good price (Like Carzorla) but he also seems to get alot more wrong than he used to. (Chamakh, Park, Squillaci, Gervinho etc..) The other issue is we seem incapable of landing our no.1 targets these days.

There's no doubting Wenger still has has some great attributes but for me it remains to be seen wether Wenger is really an 'elite' manager anymore.

BBC rumour

BBC said:
There is potentially bad news for Arsenal supporters, as German publication Kicker reports that Brazil and Bayern Munich defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo favours a switch to Wolfsburg over the north London side.

Oh dear.

BBC rumour

Oh dear.

It seems to come from Kicker's transfer ticker thing, which has no quotes. Here's the translation:

When league start, he was missing in the Bayern workforce, among other things tweaked the bar. Coming soon is Luiz Gustavo (26) no longer a member of the Bayern squad. The Brazilian midfielder, so the trend is to switch to Wolfsburg. With VfL CEO Mike Schüssler has already been discussed in the PR trip for VW and Audi in Györ yesterday Sunday - Bayern won the match with 4:1 - There was the best opportunity to continue. The fee should be 15 to 20 million euros. The Brazilian international has also inquiries from Arsenal and from Moscow.

I'm with SJW on this. I'll believe nothing until it goes through one way or another.

Gustavo won't go to Wolfsburg, they aren't even in Europa league.. Kicker is a source based around that particular club so it's no surprise they are desperately trying to rehash some old nonsense. As for the Napoli rumours, why would LG go there, they already have Inler? If he wanted to fight for his place, he could do at Bayern Munich. Makes no sense.

If he came to us I would hope that he would be prepared to fight for his place - no-one should ever have the mentality the they could walk straight into a team, even if they are good enough
