It's obvous that we had to clear some space in the squad and the wage budget to brign in new faces. If you genuinely think Arsenal have let tht many players leave and wont be=ring in enw faces then i think your a ****** :{P

I have no qualms with them offloading those names (except Gervinho maybe), but the point is that is something that was know early on. And even if they had stayed the club needed reinforcements both in quality and in numbers, regardless.

What's most worrying is Wenger saying other clubs moved fast, which makes it sound like other clubs have taken players Arsenal would have been interested in but they had no idea the sales were going on.

That whole ****ing sentence was completely ridiculous. Which club goes into the transfer season not assuming that some clubs might move quicker, some clubs have more pull etc.

Again with deviating the topic. I have no hate for Walcott, but for some here not singing his praises no matter what is what counts as hate. My views on him are already validated, as he has continued being good in the type of games I've said he's good at, and anonymous in all the situations and against all types of opponents I've said he's bad at.

And yes for that matter, I don't think he's good enough to be an automatic starter for a top European club in any league (since that is what we're working towards), and he wouldn't be anywhere else. But such is the depth of our squad at this point.

To be fair to Wenger, the full quote was this:

I guess the problem once again lies in what wasn't said. Was there a reason Arsenal couldn't act early; did they actually try to buy but were blown out of the water by, say, PSG or Monaco; at what time did his team start making efforts to sign players; did space have to be created on the wage bill first etc etc etc. You aren't going to get the answers to these questions in a press conference or likely anywhere else, but we need to know far more about the circumstances to make a proper judgement.

As usual, I'll wait until the Window closes before I assess the summer buying season.

I don't think it is too much of a stretch to understand that if you aren't prepared to overpay value by about 20M then you have to deal late in the Window. Almost any club not owned by a billionaire or that hasn't benefitted form a deal involving one of those clubs has not signed anyone significant yet. This is a feature of the transfer window every year. I'm not going to go though the reasons why I this is the case because I don't think the reasons why matter, and because anyone could come up with a few reasons for their own.

Now I think you have a decent point that it might be better to sign some lesser known names early and have them go through pre-season than to worry about signing the big-money names. Or that we wild be better if we had just stumped up the cash for a single big money name, say bought Higuain for 55M and them just given up on any more signings and if necessary put Bendtner or Gervinho or Miquel in the team.

The real problem is that we want about 4 players and if we spend 50M on one, we only have around 20M each for the other 3. 20M in the early season market doesn't buy you Walcott or Ramsey.

I'm a bit surprised about the criticism you have regarding the clear out, because I didn't hear too much in the way of complaints while he was doing it, and there were many many threads at the end of last year urging him to do it.

I think we need to wait and see what happens, before we pass judgement. I don't think anybody is happy that we haven't got people signed yet, but things don't always run smooth. I think we have all got to know Wenger pretty well in the last two decades and he isn't the sort of manager that is going to just make a U-turn like this. He said we need players and he isn't going to go back on it.

This club do know we need to improve more departments other than the striking area? They're putting a lot of energy into this Suarez deal, but signing Suarez alone will not solve all of our problems, Suarez, and that's if we even get him in the first place.

Talk has become cheap, we have seen so much talk since May, and so far it's the same old same with Arsenal, no major deals, and instead we sign some youngster (Sanago) on a free, and are handing trials to a bunch of unknown's, until anything actually happens, it's business as usual at Arsenal.

Who are all these unknowns being given trials? Or are you blowing out of proportion the single case of someone getting a trial?

Considering the plaeyrs we have bid for so far and the players we seem to be interested in, it would appear we are going for top quality additions rather than deadwood.

We don't know the circumstances surrounding any other deals. Mybe other players are waiting to see what happens with our CL qualifier? Maybe playerswe wanted where not available until acertain point? To be honest there are all kinds of factors involved in getting transfers done and any number of things could hold them up. It could even be that we have transfers on standby ready to be done but want to know how much we are spending on Suarez first? We just don't know what is going on so it's best to wait and see rather than slating Wener and or the board every day
