It's hardly a rumour if it's actually happening. It's a FACT (sorry, always wanted to do that.)
For our sakes, here's hoping the trial goes poorly.

We need squad players that are not going to cost us a fortune in wages, we cant buy players for 20 million just in case we get a few injuries, we are not man city. We have let a lot of players go, so this bloke might do a job if needed. Provided he is not in place of a big name I am quite happy to give him a trail and see what he can do.
We would be replacing deadwood with deadwood. Would rather just give the kids a go, at least they will improve, and won't take a spot in our 25 man squad (as if going over the limit will be a problem

Totally agree. Shrek hasn't had the best of times over the last few years. A fresh start will see him hit the potential we all saw when he was a lad.

We need TOP class additions. The squad is has more than enough decent/versatile members..
We need some World Class additions if we want to push forward.
His versatility has played against him, I think. SAF kept moving him around into different positions and it just made it harder for him to consistently make an impact. If he could play regularly as a central striker for Chelsea or Arsenal I think we would see the best of him again, it feels like an age since the season after Ronaldo left when he had the main role and thrived. Mourinho and Rooney looks like a winning combination, Jose can protect him and give him the role he needs whilst Rooney has the strength, pace and technique that fits right into Mourinho's style of play.

Apparently they stopped off in London on their way to the Ukraine where he's going to speak to Shakhtar. There were rumours that he wasn't keen and it looks like he's just taken the trip as a free holiday for him and his mates.

We have endless conversations about who is world class and who is not, even with other team's players. No one is going to agree on who is world class, except for a few players that are unsignable. You can even argue Rooney is not world-class, someone is just arguing that in this thread.
We have to win something this year, or make such a good effort that no one can deny that the team is good enough. Wenger needs to do that, and he can sign whoever he wants, because when the dust settles, he is the one that is going to get the blame. Even if we sign Rooney and Suarez and 3 other players for 50M each, if he doesn't win, and we don't look good, no one is going to give him a free pass, because he spent a gazillion pounds. They will just rip into him more.
I don't care who he signs, or how much he spends, but even I am not going to make excuses, if we can't compete. The upside of him not spending is that if he does fail this season, then I am pretty sure he will leave, and the next man will have a good pot of cash to begin his tenure.
