Hope it is done soon, Brazil's transfer window closes on the 20th I think.

Also read that Joel Campbell's 2nd loan spell at Betis might be in doubt because we have priced them out with a £900K loan fee slapped on him after he impressed there last season. Would be a shame, but on the other hand I think his next loan should be to a Championship or lower PL club to help him adjust to the pace of English football.

Would he even get a work permit?

Agree with that, I'd like to see Campbell play some football in England, has he got a permit though yet ?

On the breakdown in discussions with Bendtner, sporting director Bruno Hubner told the club's official website: "We would like to thank Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the constructive conversations and the high level of cooperation.

"There was interest from all three parts, but in the end it did not match up."

Kudos to Wenger for his work rate on the matter. Sometimes you can put all the work in and a third party derails it all <ok>

Wanyama off to Soton at last:

There were other options, but Southampton is a club with ambitions so I chose to come here.

If they were indeed the most ambitious club to come in for him then it suggest the other options weren't UCL teams. 'Ambitions' could be code for 'highest paying', of course...

It's a bit tragic, really. Oh well, it looks like we just have to wait until his contract ends (2014) to finally wave him goodbye.

<ok> Good to see the recognition for Wenger in this (even though the deal fell through) because he gets a lot of unfair stick from some quarters on transfers, when in fact he is probably one of better people to do business with

Because he's too soft when it comes to sales.

24 million for Judas is still a crime. A player of his ability should have been sold for 35 million at least.

And don't get me started on Fabregas.

There's still time for him to find a club this summer, but his wage demands on this deal seem to be a disappointing factor in his stubborness to realise that he isn't worth what he thinks he is.

<doh> here we go again.

The issue about RVP and Fabregas has been done to death. Both wanted out and therefore compromised our negotiating stance, not really anything else to add to this to be honest.

Can't we just release him? Surely the payoff fee would total less than a years wages?

Even if the compensation was the equivalent of his loss of earnings it would make as much sense, though as Piskers says there's still a chance to sell him and get money from the deal.

Had the game of his life against Barca, but was never sure about him. Looked really clumsy on the ball for a start.

But he'll just keep refusing to move, because of the wages he's on. Nobody will be stupid enough to match his current pay, because he's not worth 50k a week.
