I heard a rumour that every player was at the Arsenal Foundation Ball on the weekend... except for Theo Walcott. If this is true (and I haven't substantiated it), I wonder if it means that he is off. I also wonder if either a) Wenger has finally run out of patience with him or b) he is fed up of lack of game time and so wants to leave...
Hope you're all braced for the outright f*ckery that is the Arsenal summer transfer window. Be strong Gooners, be strong.
My standard policy is to resolutely stay aloof until a month before it ends when I'll break and believe every story printed.
I find that my policy is to pretend not to believe any of the ridiculous stories linking us to every player under the sun... and then to still get disappointed when they don't come off when the window closes! grr!
I only believe the story if they are on a plane heading to the stadium to sign the deal. I believe Higuain's plane is still in flight from last season.
The funny thing about the transfer window in the last few years is it always follows the same pattern. Fans on social media or tabloid sports website create a rumour >> fans re-tweet / spread this rumour via social media >> Mainstream media picks up rumour >> fans get angry at Club/Manager when the signing doesn't happen.
So true. I've noticed that as news becomes more instantaneous because of social media like Twitter, News organisations are actually reducing their staff and instead aren't researching news themselves, but just monitoring gossip on social media then repeating (mainly) ******** in the hope that some of it is either a) credible or b) sells lots of newspapers/airtime.
soooo.... --------------------------Cech------------------------- Bellerin-----NewCB----Koscielny-----Monreal --------------Xhaka---------Carzorla--------------- ---------------------------Ozil-------------------------- -------Sanchez-------Morata--------Iwobi-------- Bench: Ramsey, Wilshere, Coquelin Giroud, Mertesacker, Jenkinson, Sczezney. Good Summer?
I much prefer Sanchez more central. As someone who watches feck all Italian football, how good is Morata and what would he likely cost? I see Real have a buy back clause so they're likely to utilise that then flog him for even more if it comes to it. Not seen any rumours they're actually interested in keeping him themselves.
Ibra would be incredible but I don't see Wenger going after a player of that age. Ben Arfa would be Ok on a free although I don't rate him any higher than Theo or Campbell.
People will tell you different things. He only scored 11 goals last Season but was mostly used as an understudy to Mandzukic so his mins/goals ratio was actually decent. Also he's only 23. Tall (6'3) and quick with surprisingly good feet I do think he has all the qualities needed to become a world Class striker. (but I also think the fee being quoted by the press is WAY too much for a player who isn't yet the finished article)
Yeah this one looks a dead cert. Hopefully he'll have a nice long chat with Gonzalo HiguaĆn whilst he's in there.
