The Manolas rumours do seem to be very strong so that would be the CB position covered if we sign him.
We need a defensive midfielder, not a headless chicken, song was bombing past the strikers half the time, and the other half he was giving free kicks away
Agree with that. He didn't play the defensive midfield role very well. I thought he was better going forward to be honest. I'm still hoping that we make a bid for Lars Bender.
Khedira is really being frozen out of this RM side, no surprise really when you see who is ahead of him, will be interesting to see how many games even alonso gets. The optimist in me says that we're waiting until the end of the transfer window to scare him into lowering his wage demands, don't think it's too much of a stretch to see him converted to a DM.
Apart from a CB, I can't see us getting a DM that all us want. I think Wenger is pretty settled with his team and giving Arteta the captains armband, who is our primary DM, shows that he is putting faith in him. We also have a fully stocked midfield so players like Flamini, Rosicky, Diaby etc will fill in.
The trouble is that if all the rumours about wages are true, then the fact is there's other teams out there that appear to be willing to offer him the wages he wants that we're not. I'm far more interested in us getting Carvalho.
Carvalho is probably the more defensive minded player, but Khedira would link up brilliantly with Ozil. I'm not sure that the rumours about his wages are anything more than bluster and guff from the papers looking to fill column inches. We'll see what happens, but I reckon we'll sign one more before the window shuts.
Considering Wenger's said we're not close to signing anyone just yesterday, it's possible ALL of this is bluster and guff and we're not after any of them.
The Sun reports that Galatasaray have stepped up their bid to sign Arsenal frontmen Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski in a £22million double deal. However, it is said that Arsenal have told the Turkish giants that they can sign Podolski – but not Campbell. While the paper suggests that the Gunners are ready to offload German World Cup winner Podolski for around £14million, Arsene Wenger has no interest in letting Campbell go after he has only just returned to the club following a series of loan spells. Any truth to these reports? I can see Pod leaving though.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has rejected suggestions that Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski could leave after both players were linked with Galatasaray. Wenger: "We have had no offers for anyone to leave." arsn.al/xMf6Pk #EFCvAFC http://pbs.twimg.com/media/BvjItE0CEAEJrn8.jpg Looks like Wenger has denied anyone coming for either of them. This is good as it's a little late in the day to sell our forward line players. Campbell looks a little cold in that pic....
If Liverpool get him then they will have a very good chance of getting top 4 and will have a very dangerous attack. They will be the team to look out for as well as Chelsea and Man City. He will be a nightmare against the opposition if Brendan gets it right, if he doesn't then its a nightmare for Liverpool...
He might have worked for us but I can't see how he can be anything but disruptive for Liverpool. I can't see Rodgers playing Sturridge and him both in his starting 11, should be plenty of grounds for "conflict".
