I genuinely think that now he is only in it for the "numbers" and not the quality. I hope it's not true, but too many common themes in his speeches now. They'll probably make a semi-serious attempt at a single big name, but I don't expect to get 2-3 recognized names that have almost guaranteed starting places.

Today he also said something like (paraphrasing) "we have the money, not as much as is reported in the media, but we have some to spend". (you can view the video at arsenal.com)

We haven't exactly set the world alight with our approach to signing players this window, but there's only so much we can do about Benzema and we have to have the agreement from Real before any thing will happen, so it is out of our hands. No surprise there really and not a reason on it's own to knock the club.
 
Wenger has confirmed there will be no signings before the Fenerbahce game on Tuesday. Bit worrying as we definitely need a signing before the game against Spurs.
 
And Wenger regarding Podolski, it seems there was something to the rumors of him wanting to get out.

"I am pleased because he plays with a lot of spirit and he can score goals. Everybody in the squad loves Lukas and I want to keep him. When a player doesn't play he is not happy and recently he did not always start but if you look at his and Giroud's goalscoring record it's very good."


Would be mad to sell him with how thin our squad is.
 
You really have to hand to hand it to the guys who do the buy and sell at the lane. I still cannot believe how much they are allegedly getting for Bale, it almost feels to me like a bad dream. Like my worst enemy at work has won the lottery! They allegedly have this huge offer on the table, and they are playing it so cool, 90mill for bale, yeah, no big deal!

Imagine if Bale was an Arsenal player, those diddery old fools would have collapsed as soon as the bidding reached 37mill, they would have been frothing at the mouth.... Those guys at spuds really have some huge balls. This is robbery!
 
I must point out here that Willian has not signed for Chelsea and is still considering his options, much like when Spurs thought they had signed him.
 
Di Maria or Mata will do, think we have a better chance of getting Di Maria, doubt Chelsea would want to sell to us, and just because there's competition at Chelsea wouldn't mean Mata would instantly want to leave, he'd want to probably stay and fight for his place, there's no guarantee Williams will outshine him.
