That's what I'm thinking. They've made things so public that if they come out with nothing, it will look very bad indeed.
I've never been one to crticise Gazidis because I think he has done a good job in negotiating sponsor contracts but I think he was stupid boasting to the media about our finances
Bad ploy to talk about having mega bucks and being ready to buy big. They will look rather foolish if they come out with nothing or not a top signing. But there is still time and i'm sure they are working hard on getting some signings.
You would hope something happens this week, new players would then have the Emirates Cup and the friendly against Citeh to get assimilated <sic> into the team
AVB has refused to deny that Real Madrid have made a bid for Bale http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/27/villas-boas-real-madrid-gareth-bale?CMP=twt_gu
you have to stand back and look at the bigger picture. I would rather Spurs didnt lose Bale to Madrid . At the moment they are a one man team and thats NOT a recipe for success , however much you want it to be . If they manage to sell him for 40/50/60 million quid , they could actually spend that on improving the core of the team , which at the moment is not that impressive. Let them keep wonder boy and let them believe he is all they need. Suits our purpose.
Despite the spats I get with some of you guys on occasion i'm glad to e on here than the Ja. I swear its like a bunch of little kids who rage at the most pointless things. I see why Batmanu left them.
http://gossip.ladyarse.com/arsenal/2013/07/27/campbell-confirms-olympiakos-switch-photo/? Joel Campbell has joined Olympiakos on loan. I wonder if we ever going to see him play for Arsenal?
He did well on loan in La Liga - had a few chances to see him on Sky and the commentators had good things to say about his form during the season, and he looked pretty lively. I hope he is going to get a chance with Arsenal at some point. Has he managed a work permit yet? Also Olympiakos compete at the top of there league and in european competition - it might just be another step in his development, getting him into the winning mindset and some continental experience.
Probably not as there is an option to buy at the end of the loan deal In other news Gerv has agreed a 4 yr deal with Roma.
Bye Bye Bale ? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...lls-Tottenham-I-want-to-join-Real-Madrid.html According to the Sun, Bale had told the Spiv Levy that he's broken his promises to him about listening to offers for the Monkey boy if the Spuds failed to qualify for the CL again and that he wants out to join Real Madrid. Spiv Levy did exactly the same with Modric, broke a promise that if spuds didn't get CL and an offer came in, then they would listen. He held Modric hostage for a season and then eventually lost out on millions when he was forced to sell him less than a year later. Will the spiv Levy make the same mistake with Bale, or will he cash in now ?
Disagree. If Real buy Bale, then Suarez is as good as ours. Also regardless of the cash, spuds simply can't go out and buy another Gareth Bale. They might have 6Om to play with, but they have a track record of spunking cash up the wall. Since the PL has begun they have spent fractionally less than Utd on transfers and 15Om more than us and achieved basically **** all
http://gossip.ladyarse.com/arsenal/2013/07/27/gervinho-reportedly-agrees-four-year-deal-with-roma/? Yep, and here's the source for that.
ok but . point one is not guaranteed. point two , you could say that about us.. we have wasted our share of cash . They seem to have started making more astute purchases than in the past . Vertongy , Dembelly are decent players. They are faced with the same problem as ALL second tier teams now , best players getting robbed by moneybags clubs....
I agree with PISKIE here. People said the same thing about Ronaldo and United being able to become strengthen the core but it hasn't happened. They've got weaker and it's only because Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool did too + Fergie impact that they've been able to win titles since then. As a football fan I'd hope Bale stays, it would be good for the league as well. But as a Chelsea fan, Spurs are undoubtedly weaker if they sell Bale. Don't forget that the same thing that happened to Napoli will happen to them. Clubs will take the piss and charge them money that Levy won't pay. If Bale stays, Spurs are definitely stronger than they were last season and it would force Arsenal's hand which is what the fans desperately want.
As far as I'm concerned, there is no way you can sell your best player and hope to be as good the next season. Even if they get a **** load of cash for Bale, they simply cannot just go out and buy a replacement, because Bale is the best they could ever hope for. If he goes to Real, then it could set of a chain of events where we buy Suarez and Liverpool buy Soldado leaving the Spuds floundering. But there is a little way to go in this window yet and the more dramatic moments are yet to come.
