As an outsider looking in, Wilshire is the ONLY potentially top world class England player in the current crop. To sell him would be a white flag, his commercial value as a future England captain would piss take the fee. Don't sign our keeper, he is pony, worst I've ever seen, slow off his line, reflexes of a sloth, cost us at least 72 points last season, you definitely don't want him
Can't see why Bayern would want t buy him anyway, he's hardly played any football in the last 2 years
Can we stop with this "Jack is gooner through and through" BS? He's a West Ham fan, he said so himself.
He has been playing at Arsenal since he was 9, so I find that highly unlikely. Was he a West Ham fan before that? "Can I promise I will be at Arsenal for ever? I can promise that, yes," he told reporters.
Loyalty is dead in footy: http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/...bayern-munich-from-dortmund-says-agent-052713 Anyway, all signs seem to point that we'll be getting Higuain or Villa then.
We'll get Villa, I think. Higuain might go to Juve depending on what Jovetic does. The more I read about him the less I really enjoy the prospect of signing Jovetic. Doesn't seem like a Wenger-type signing and not sure how he will fit in here.
I don't think we'll sign a striker (aside from Sanogo). Maybe Wenger sees Sanogo as being "top top quality".
Villa would be very underwhelming. While Higuain hasn't had the best form recently he'd still be significantly better than the rest of our CF options, and he is still passionate, ambitious, with a lot left to prove. Even if we want to just comfortably secure 4th next season we'll have to improve. To do better than that (i.e. 2nd/3rd with one of FA or league cup) we need to improve significantly. Villa sadly I can see being another one of those wage leaches 6 months down the road.
I second the comment that Villa would be "very underwhelming" and that he would ultimately be another signing just tying up good money. He would just replace Arshavin on the bench halfway through the next campaign. Passionless, fading talent.
Every single one of those quotes irritates me immensely. Wenger is one of the most non-commital, infuriating managers out there. Never gives anything away.
Striker options: 1. Steven Jovetic - Great talent but inconsistant - More of a second striker than an out and out CF. Seems to be our 'first choice' if the press are too be believed. 2. Wayne Rooney - If Wenger wants Jovetic then I would imagine Rooney is also on the radar. A simular type of forward but Unlike Jovetic Rooney has proved he can score goals at the TOP level. He has had two 30+ Premier League Seasons. - As a striker his peak years (27-30) are still ahead of him. 3. David Villa - It seems we almost signed him in January. Could be back on the radar - still a lethal finisher may have lost a bit of pace though. 5. Gonzalo Higuain - Reaching the age where he needs regular first team football. Has a very 'high chances per goal' ratio the Argentine has the ability to be one of Europe's best. Would all depend on how he adjusts to the EPL. 6. Christian Benteke - Had a good Season with Villa. Benteke certainly has all the physical attributes to succeed. Still only 22 years old. Could be a good buy. Hard to tell just how good the guy is at this stage of his career. 7. Huntelaar. We've shown an interest in the past. Ultra clinical but recently signed a new contract with Schalke. 8. Loic Remy - DO NOT WANT. 9. Eden Dzeko - Cant be happy by his lack of starts at City. He has shown what a good finisher he can be. Quite simular to Giroud in style though. 10. Robert Lewandowski - Rumoured to have agreed terms with Bayern (verbally at least ). He would be absolutely perfect for us. Probably the least likley option due to Bayerns interest. A £30 Million offer could shake things up a bit.
Isco wants out of Malaga and whilst the BBC story is trying to suggest he'll join Pellegrini at City, Isco said he wants to play football and not sit on the bench: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22681855
I fear so, but Isco is quite clear about wanting to play first team football and hasn't made his mind up where he wants to go yet. He'd be a quality acquisition if we could do a deal.
Tell Santi to give him a call. The only way Fab would come back would be if Arsenal signed a couple of great players & convinced him they were very on the up. Far more likely next summer than this.
