About a week ago I read we were interested in Blackpool’s
Jamie O’Hara but discounted it as so unlikely as to be laughable. I knew we’d been interested in him during Jol’s time but he’d gone to Wolves (for a rumoured £5m) and his time there can only be described as
meltdown. By “mutual consent” they parted company and he spent the beginning of last season on “gardening leave” before joining Blackpool in November on a short-term contract.

Now however, Cauley Woodrow has started a
twitter-fest - that we either have or are about to sign him. Apparently the speculation has arisen because Cauley followed him and Ben Pringle on twitter at the same time.
There’s no doubting the 28yr old O’Hara’s ability … if he were fit. And there’s the rub. In 2010 on rejoining Spurs after a loan spell at Pompey he had surgery on a back injury. In 2011 he joined Wolves permanently but missed most of the season after another two bouts of surgery and didn‘t get back into the first team until January 2013. Wolves were relegated that season and O’Hara was truly out of favour from then on; manager Kenny Jacket citing “lack of fitness“ for not playing him.
My first thought was, would he be any better than
Danny Guthrie, who we apparently were happy to let go? Can’t see that he would be. So … this is simply one of those “no news day” stories inflamed by twitter. Surely it must be, mustn’t it!??
