This is mental.

One of the most mental elements is that everything Acun says is so totally at odds with the news that's coming out. He seems utterly convinced that we're stable and healthy, and genuinely confused at questions the other night about the money owed to him and his ability to call it in.

Yes, you can say he's just a liar, but it was always going to come out before long, and he'd have been particularly aware of that on Monday night when he last spoke to us, so why would he just lie about it knowing it'd so obviously bite him on the arse within a few days? And why were we still trying to buy players right up to this happening? Him just being a bullshitter doesn't explain everything.

He could just be a fantasist, in total delusion of the financial picture, horribly advised/misinformed and/or completely inept financially. But again, it seems unlikely. How could someone with so much wealth and connection be unable to stay abreast of the basic finances of the club or hire someone who is?

I'm sure we can all imagine that the next time we hear from Acun in the coming days he'll again be protesting his/the club's innocence, saying it's all a mistake or something along those lines. And some people will accept that while others won't. But whether you accept it or not there's still an open question of why he is so convinced, and determined to convince us, that things are OK.

We've seen dodgy owners before, here and at other clubs. They either skulk off and don't show their face like Dai Yongge or they go on the attack like Chansiri, Tan or Allam, blaming fans while making more and more cuts. They don't stick around making public appearances and big promises, increase their involvement with the club, try to invest more and more, invite Sky cameras to start following them around and take fans on a free holiday. None of that tallies up with what we're hearing is happening. It's really strange and I can't think of a good explanation for it.
If you're skint don't look it?

Ehab has been offering him a way out for a while. We might just see it happen now. He was pretty much definitely taking it back on if we got relegated as he was the only one who was still interested.

It’s an absolute joke. Wages paid later than normal on the biggest week of the club’s recent history but everyone just believed him when he said it was a technicality. He will say the same again now and the fact that it’s all a big misunderstanding and it’s all paid. We’re financially in a proper, proper hole but to the fans faces, he just lies and promises more and more signings.

He’s not wealthy enough to own a Chamionship football club and he’s especially not wealthy enough to run one that is racking up huge debts and playing players £35k a week.

The club was bought through a Santander loan to Acun Medya and I would imagine everything else has been too.

He got too excited, he thought he could get us promoted straight away and now we’re shafted.

I bloody love this club and it’s horrible to see.

Can’t see the EFL ever accepting Ehab being involved again.

Baring in mind we were also put under an EFL embargo under his stewardship. He’s hardly the richest bloke himself.

Why would he come back too? It’s very likely he will be running to be an MP in 2029 for Reform.

I suspect....that there are a lot of clubs in this division quivering in their boots right now and if Sheff Wed didnt have their owners and accountants frantically trying to dot i's and cross t's then our fall out will. Unfortunately we have been caught in the cross fire. I wonder how close Middlesbrough are having spent a lot of money trying to get into the top 6 last season.

What is strange as I think Syd eluded to, is that surely, maybe, perhaps, Villa actually owe us money for Philogene and this debt for Barry could have been settled through that debt.

Lets be honest 'the beautiful game' has gone., There are the have's and have nots. We could with decent ownership have been part of untouchables.

Not what I want but isn't flogging Hughes or Pandur the easiest way out of this, at least in the short term?

I suspect that selling Alzate and Puerta are more sensible, but it needs to be done quickly to offset what's currently happening.

Its also unfortunate that Aston Villa themselves are under financial pressure (is it PSR or something) with threats of Transfer embargo's... had we owed someone else then it might have been a bit more conciliatory.

Few on here suggesting Villa dobbed us in but I thought I'd seen something to suggest Villa hadn't complained and that it was out of their hands?

If you’ve agreed to a contract and then aren’t paying you’re well within your rights to complain. I imagine the way football is these days, pushing finances to the limit, and it being reported Villa had a PSR issue that they budget this 1m loan fee into their own financial plans.

You would 100% complain to the EFL if you got stung with a PSR penalty because another team aren’t honouring a contract they agreed to.

Imagine Ipswich decided they don’t want to make their Greaves pay instalments on time.

I think there's a clear message here and It's relevant to all of us including Acun Illicali...If you owe someone money, you pay it back.

He seems to be racking up a lot of debt and it looks as if it's finally all caught up with him.The eye watering amounts of money he claims to be putting in just to exist is unsustainable.

I'm no financial expert but this issue doesn't look likely to vanish,he's up to his neck in sh!t...
