Why does Ehab want it back, is he rich enough to fund a championship club. Or is he happy to fill it full of freebies and hang around between l1 and the bottom of the championship

Presume he'd be heading a consortium of some sort. Or else thinks he can run us as leanly as last time.

Which just makes it stranger he hasn't sold if there are interested parties. We have a good squad, someone with some more funds available could take us to that next level. Acun could sell at a clip with an add-on if we get promoted.

Late payment of the first installment of Baz's loan fee. Which was £1mil?

How much was the fee for a half season loan FFS?

£1m was the total loan fee and I suspect Acun trying to get this knocked off his permanent fee (based on him barely playing), is what initially triggered the issues with the deal and in turn led to Villa complaining to the FA.

Why do people believe there’s money in football?

There is, but it’s only at the top table, the Premier League (PL), in this country. Even then, it’s not guaranteed, as Leicester City demonstrated.

Some clubs have a plan: buy cheap, sell high. This strategy was successful for Brentford, but it didn’t happen overnight. Unfortunately, Acun attempted this approach and failed miserably.

Overall, more and more football clubs are trying to make their way to the PL, hoping to secure financial backing and reach the promised land before the money runs out. Some clubs have a fallback plan, continuing to fund the debt they create, but still without a guarantee of getting the money back. Others follow suit but ultimately realise they can’t do it and sell their team on to the next contender.

Football, as it was before the PL, is dead and long gone. Now, it’s just “owners” chasing a dream!

Do teams in League Two believe that one day they’ll be in the PL? They can dream, but realistically, it’s not going to happen. Those days of a small team getting to the PL through hard work are history.

Even teams like us have only slightly more of a chance than Grimsby Town, and that’s only because we’re in the Championship, which really means nothing!

These are the reasons for clubs getting over their heads in debt. Having to pay ridiculous money for just about everything.

Think you've combined two different elements - late on the first instalment for Joseph, and late on the total payment of Barry's fee.

You’re probably right. Villa probably gave us more leeway than we deserved by not reporting us to the EFL sooner. Apparently, it was over three months overdue. Can definitely see him trying to argue that the loan fee should be included in the £3.5 million transfer fee.

He must think honouring contracts is him doing other people a favour rather than following the law.

Some of the reporting makes it sound like it's more.

Even tha seems a daft amount to spunk away on half a season without being part of a future permanent fee.

The permanent fee we agreed was reported as £3.5mil.

It could be the 1m loan fee + wages because we pay the wages to Villa not Barry (they have a contract with Barry and they still pay him each month).

Yep. I mean, it's not good. But think we're still a bit short on fact.

What's Blaster Bates doing these days? Other than living as a tax exile in Monaco. Even though he's knocking on in years. Would he fancy a go at pulling City out of the brown and very dirty?

BTW...A bit of gallows humour never hurt anyone, except for the geezer at the end of the rope!

I understand people thinking that Villa are raising a massive issue about a piddling amount of money. However, there was suggestion that we were getting Baz for
A fairly low figure as Villa were right on the edge regarding spending and needed quick cash. Has this led them to react like this to what appears a small amount of money. I am glad this has come out though. Surely Acun can't keep insisting everything is fine and we should stop worrying!

I presume the same place he got the money to pay wages this month and all other running costs.

Yeah and I'm pretty sure it was all part of a negotiation for the permanent.

It's the other alleged late payments that's the worry. Just need to wait for more info though before making any judgements.
