Don't think they are, I'm sure other clubs have resolved the issues and had them lifted. Admittedly usually with new owners.

Now the Jakirovic appointment starts to make sense. Wasn't Kayserispor under a transfer embargo?

He has the experience for that already. Acun always a step ahead <cheers>

It does seem to be related specifically to Barry so surely a negotiating tactic? Weird to not be for all transfer payments otherwise.

It's all fine lads nothing to see here

Or maybe some of the people who expressed concern
about the finances might have actually had a point ?

I'm just asking questions about elements that don't seem to add up, if that's OK with you.

Well that shatters my faith in Acun and his "math may have improved" but its still not up to the EFL standard. Saying that we were negotiating with AV but it had to be right for the club, clearly it was not right for AV since it appeared we still owed them for the loan. Looks like we are screwed and who will want to come here now when the threat of not being paid is hanging around the club; not Mcburnie for sure.

He needs to swallow his pride and sell the club at a huge loss or allow these interested investors a controlling stake in the club. He’s clearly unreliable.

    This is mental.

One of the most mental elements is that everything Acun says is so totally at odds with the news that's coming out. He seems utterly convinced that we're stable and healthy, and genuinely confused at questions the other night about the money owed to him and his ability to call it in.

Yes, you can say he's just a liar, but it was always going to come out before long, and he'd have been particularly aware of that on Monday night when he last spoke to us, so why would he just lie about it knowing it'd so obviously bite him on the arse within a few days? And why were we still trying to buy players right up to this happening? Him just being a bullshitter doesn't explain everything.

He could just be a fantasist, in total delusion of the financial picture, horribly advised/misinformed and/or completely inept financially. But again, it seems unlikely. How could someone with so much wealth and connection be unable to stay abreast of the basic finances of the club or hire someone who is?

I'm sure we can all imagine that the next time we hear from Acun in the coming days he'll again be protesting his/the club's innocence, saying it's all a mistake or something along those lines. And some people will accept that while others won't. But whether you accept it or not there's still an open question of why he is so convinced, and determined to convince us, that things are OK.

We've seen dodgy owners before, here and at other clubs. They either skulk off and don't show their face like Dai Yongge or they go on the attack like Chansiri, Tan or Allam, blaming fans while making more and more cuts. They don't stick around making public appearances and big promises, increase their involvement with the club, try to invest more and more, invite Sky cameras to start following them around and take fans on a free holiday. None of that tallies up with what we're hearing is happening. It's really strange and I can't think of a good explanation for it.

I think he will come out and say something like ‘it’s another big misunderstanding and we have complete faith it will be overturned’ and when it doesn’t, he’ll play the victim. He’s done it in Turkey and made out that there was a huge conspiracy in Turkish football against Fenerbahçe.

As to your point about how he made his wealth and media empire, I think it links in with his delusional approach to business. He got a huge leg up because he’s close to the increasingly authoritarian Turkish government. He’s a media mogul in a country that severely restricts freedom of the press and throws hundreds of journalists in prison. What does that tell you? He thinks he’s untouchable because that’s how he does business in Turkey. He doesn’t have to honour deals and contracts because he’ll break them and there’s no consequence. That’s why he doesn’t pay certain contractors in this country that have worked for City. That’s why he thinks he can get away not paying Villa the money they’re owed on time. He just thinks he can charm his way out of bother. Maybe in Turkey but not here where the institutions don’t care who he’s mates with in his home country.

I think putting aside everything else and what this relates to or what it doesn't relate to, whether we're actually financially ok or in the complete ****ter, the common theme is that Acun should go. Whether you think he should go for hastily sacking two good managers or because he can't run the club off field, I think everyone (apart from the odd poster) is pretty agreed on that.

Well they certainly aren't a charity.

If there's questions over the integrity of the business model, does it really matter who makes the initial investment?

If we're not in the complete ****ter and he can continue funding us, then he shouldn't go, just learn from his mistakes and improve year on year.

I also think the chances of that actually being viable are next to zero.

Surely Villa still owe us cash for Philogene (doubt they paid the whole thing up front) so couldn't they just take the Barry money out of that if we really were penny pinching?
