Harry looked very awkward in that interview. Looked worried about the imjuries, disappointed in the signings... Or was he just hiding something?! I am just baffled how the president of marseille can come out and say that he turned down an 18 mill offer for remy, yet all we manage to sign is Saha!! How can u go from spending 18 mill on a marquee signing, to buying Saha? It's laughable.
These signings are all a bit short term for my liking. I think Levy doesn't want to sign anyone for big money as it's still likely HR will leave in the summer and the new manager will want his own players.
Just as long as we don't try to coax a few players out of retirement to limp through to the end of the season...
If some of the rumours are to be believed, then Levy won't try very hard to persuade him to stay. So you could just be spot on there.
There have been a few. The latest in this weeks Sunday Times, suggesting that they don't see eye to eye and Levy finds this whole tax dodge trial an embarrassment. He won't sack him, opinion wouldn't allow it. However, the rumour is that if he wants to go, Levy won't fight very hard to change his mind.
We'll be signing Darren Anderton next. A rather embarrassing window for a club with aspirations as big as ours. I know people bang on about how "at least we showed some activity" but- as per bloody usual- we left said activity to the last minute, as if a panicked afterthought (a la Wenger). And Saha/Nelsen frankly don't warrant last-minute activity. For crying out loud- even Queens Park Blinkin Rangers showed more ambition than us! I'm not a happy bunny- much rather we'd just left things be than the dross we've brought in in full glare of all the teams baying for our blood.
And who the hell is Cameron Lancaster?!! Im sure he's a top bloke but bloody hell, he sounds like an estate agents'!! Embarrassing. Utterly embarrassing that a club of our stature should go into ANY PL game w/o a proven striker on the bench if needed. Anyway, sorry about the rant- if Chavski hadn't have dropped points I'd be fuming. As it is, I'm mildly peeved, and off to bed where I shall dream of a January window that is more to my taste. Damaio will feature, as will Samba, and Hoillett, and Krasic. And then Messi will announce- at 10.58pm of course- that he has always dreamed of playing for spurs. At 10.59pm Barca will agree a deal which sees Dos Santos and a packet of crisps move to the Camp Nou in exchange for Messi. And in a last minute deal, we shall sign alessandra ambrosio to -ahem- *entertain* the fans at half time.... G'Night all!
5pts off top spot...7pts in front of 4th ....11pts in front of 5th spo....2 losses in our last 21 prem matches and we are complaining.....oh what short.memories we habe
We should've sorted out most of this crap in the last window though, Lidls. If Redknapp doesn't rate some of our players and has no intention of playing them, then they need to be moved on. Keeping hold of them and letting them rot on the bench only lowers their value, damages the dressing room morale and destroys any competition for places. We shouldn't be scrabbling about in January trying to find last minute, risky bargains to fill holes that we're creating by loaning out these players. It's ridiculous.
So thats that then after being linked to 574 players in the last month..we sign a 34 year old frontman in Louis Saha on loan i am actually in agreement...its a panic window...now i really do expect some good players in the summer.
Perfectly put, PNP (yes, I'm still awake...) In response to Colin Lee's quite accurate and correct statement, You'll notice that neither I nor any other poster has outright declared that the season is down the toilet. I think you're missing the point of the 'complaints' flying around in here. Speaking on behalf of myself and a bunch of mates who were round to watch the game this evening, we'd all rather the STATUS QUO had been maintained, instead of loaning out half our squad whilst bringing in 2 cripples who- quite frankly- offer us NOTHING we didn't already have, besides perhaps for new and exotic kinds of injuries! None of us are complaining about our performance on the pitch this season- there's no question that we have been AND REMAIN a force to be reckoned with, and I firmly believe that we'll have a great second half of the season. The complaints are about our performance in the transfer window. I-like many others- am actually embarrassed both by how we went about things, when we went about things, and- more importantly- WHO we went about things with. A club of our stature is so, so much bigger than this. Why join the likes of everton, qpr and fulham (no offence intended) in scrabbling around for the last-minute stocking fillers?!?! Especially when the stockings WE'VE been landed with are old, decrepit, and full of holes! An analogy for you, Mr Lee: Tottenham's January Window activity is like the unwanted old fart at the xmas family get-together who no-one wants there, who no-one knows why they are there, when everyone was getting along just fine until they turned up. Saha- not needed. Nelsen- not needed Charlie- needed And now, dear sirs, with an air of final finality, im off to bed, where we shall- as promised- sign Lionel Messi for the fee of Dos Santos and a packet of cheetos.
