Sad to see what was a good match thread descend into a farce so quickly. Thank you PNP for diverting District Whine's attention for the next few days though.

Anyway, very pleased with the result - had to stop watching at half time but will try and catch up with some highlights somewhere.

Wow...5-0 away from home in Europe regardless of opposition is a great result. Shame it was so one sided though as we have had the odd cracking scot-english tie over the years. Just shows how far they are falling behind i guess.

Yeah, I'd agree but I didn't really want to have a real contest in the qualifying rounds. Hopefully we'll get Celtic or Rangers in the group or knockouts, although at this rate neither will get through the qualifying rounds. Don't know how they think they'd be able to compete in the English Prem when they can't beat third rate European opposition.

I guess their argument is they would soon catch up if they had the P.L money. Probably true to a point but I can't imagine too many world class stars wanting to live and play in Glasgow. Here is hoping it never happens, our league has more than enough big teams in it without them invading. I'd rather have Leeds and Forest back tbh.

Agreed.

If Celtic and Rangers want to be part of a progressive, competitive league, then they shouldn't have expended so much effort strangling their own one to death.
Fix that, instead of trying to jump ship when it all goes wrong.

How many of the epl managers learnt their trade in Scotland , if my club Celtic were given 60 million every year from tv revenue , my club would be winning the champions league , instead of laughing at Scottish football , you English should be asking the question why you are so far behind Spanish football. Last night we had a crowd of 52000 which will not be bettered in Europa league this season , unless we play again .Even after spurs result last night the epl is still the most overrated league in the world , all your English under 21 players worth 20 million !!!! Charlie Adams was found out in the spl yet worth 10 million now. If we qualify ( we should Sion played illegal players ) I hope we draw you , not to put Scottish football back on the map , remember both old firm teams have been in a European final last 7 years with no tv revenue , but to take the smurk of your faces. Ps I actually like spurs and hate Arsenal but will always stick up for our league

Rangers don't get their Scottish refs to help them out against Malmo but that is a different storey for another day

If Celtic and Rangers were given £60m a year from TV money, then they'd still be miles behind the likes of Chelsea, City, Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal in the financial stakes.
A couple of years with no trophies and no European football and their dominance of the Scottish football support would start to dwindle.
People would start following their local sides, who would now have a chance at some silverware or start following English sides, especially as many of them already do.

Great idea. Unfortunately, unless UEFA intervenes, the Premier league is in serious danger of going the same way. The only difference will be a dominant top 3, instead of 2. Leaving the rest to fight for 4th, etc, etc.

please not , your not getting this Celtic have not won a Scottish trophy for over three years except Scottish cup last season , dosn't count we lost the league, why would our fans disappear???, if you put us in your English league Celtic would challange Man utd for been the biggest club in the world unlike , Chelsea , arsenal , spurs and Liverpool. Last season the day we lost the league we played Motherwell 59000 were there to support our manager , letter bombs , death threats and attacked pitch side , in my life I have attended nearly 2000 Celtic games the atmosphere was better than any champions league game , European final I have attended and puts your epl atmosphere to shame look at days man utd win the league a damp squid in my mind
