We could have been spanked if it hadn't been for Friedal.

I've not heard us "boo" like that in a long time.

some one said recently (not sure who it was) how the days of conceding late goals were put behind us a couple of years ago and we'd resolved that problem. well, here we are again.

We conceded quite a few late goals when AVB was in charge aswell.

AvB doesn't understand our traditions, our style of play, our passion to attack...yet. Two defensive midfielders at home, with a non front man as striker, we all know what was going to happen. AvB will have to learn quick and drop his stubborn style of play. He knows his professional career will be damaged deeply if he is unsuccessful here too. He will make changes but needs to make them sooner rather than later.

Ade clearly isn't fit and it is asking for trouble playing him unfit so Defoe had to start.

No excuse for playing two dm's at home, he played defoe up top but didn't set the team up to support him, what excuse do you have for that? if he was so great at tactics he would know if we have to play defoe up top then its even more crucial to play an attacking team, especially at home.

**** system at the start and we never really recovered.
Lots of players in different states of fitness, due to recently signing, largely being left out of the pre-season, or going to the Euros or the Olympics.
We look a mess, frankly.

Villas-Boas has a lot of work to do and he won't get to do much with the international break coming up.
I really don't want to see us playing two holding midfielders again any time soon, though and Huddlestone's ban won't help that cause.
Despite it not being a red in a million years, we never successfully appeal those decisions, so I expect it to stand.

There are certain games, against certain opposition, where you could argue the case for two defensive mids. But at home, against ****ing Norwich???!...

It wasn't a loss....

but it feels like one

It very easily could have been. I'd love it if we faced an open team like Norwich every week...

They very easily could have won it, left plenty of room for you at the back but IMO the creativity of Modric and VdV hasn't been even remotely addressed.

Sigurdsson really doesn't look like a player that can carry the midfield. He's looked nothing more than a slightly wealthier man's Darron Gibson.

AVB is clearly not ready for the EPL,he's out of his depth. Let's see what happens in the next match but ffs play the newbies straight away.

As I'm sure you'd be aware, there wasn't too much we could do about Modric. But selling VDV? I can only think that was done because our genius manager was sure he was getting Moutinho...chickens, hatch!!!...

I think that was done because of his family situation, NSIS.

Truely awful. We were very lucky to get a point. We were awful, the ref was awful, Norwich's finishing was awful or we would have lost by about three or four.

Ultimately AVB will be judged by our performances on the field and what I have seen to date I would rather watch paint dry. I have never heard the Lane so quiet, it sounded like the Emirates, the loudest noises were the boos at the end.

However, we have chosen to make wholescale changes and it always takes a little time for new players to gel. It will be interesting to see how long that 'gelling' takes. When it comes down to it we stole a point today, there will be days when we play a lot better and lose.

Last season under harry with vdv and modric we ripped Norwich apart at home and ... oh wait a minute

There seems to be a concentration issue here - in all 3 games, we've conceeded late, sloppy goals.

I seem to be predicting damn well though this season unfortunately.

Frustrating again.

Don't want to see Livermore in the squad again anytime soon. He keeps giving away stupid fouls deep in our half. Sandro can do aswell but he offers us much more.

Don't want to see Defoe up on his own again. He livened up a bit after Ade came on but Ade carries more of a threat on his own and Sig's set pieces are important to us so hopefully Jermain will be dropped.

Don't want to see Dembele and Ade on the bench again, they're far too important to us now.

I would have hoped that after last season you would not take it for granted that you would just need to turn up to beat us. We are not the best team in the league (not by some distance) but we are a team and a decent one at that. Show a little respect and humility <ok>
