Good man, I knew it would be a dutchman! remember euro 96 and players walking out on the squad! they have always been abit volatile and I think we can say "moron" applys to Van the man.
He was denied a move, then never picked, plus he was crap beforehand but as you can see, its a certain type of player that wouldn't perform or doesn't get picked after being denied a transfer and Bale just isn't that type so there would be no worry if he stays for a year.
Only one thing I would add. Whether we like it, or not, transfer fees move ever onwards and upwards. We have to consider that effect when calculating the net future value 4-5 years from now of say, £40mil. Do we really know what that money can buy us 4-5 years ahead? For me, no, we ask for the money now - not tomorrow, or the next day, then we know what we have, and what can be bought with it.
I don't remember 96 as I was only 6 at the time but was it anything like the French a couple years back? That was a farce! Alright fair point! You have persuaded me that if forced Bale will (hopefully) put in good performances! I agree - the way transfer fees are constantly rising £20m by the time they make their last installment could sign you the equivalent of a David Wheater.
It was before a game at villa park, may have involved egdar davids or Clarence seedorf, but was either a fight between players or they feel out with the coach in their camp, and refused to play and i'm sure one of the players got sent home. ...talking of the french (I can't remember what happened!)!
The way some players react when they don't get a move is a joke. Average Prem player must be on what, £20k a week? I'm sure it's such a hard life for them to have stick it out at their current club. Odemwingie was a disgrace. Modric and Berbatov were also well out of line. They shouldn't agree to such a long contract if they can't see it out. We can easily "force" Bale to stay for another season or even two if we wanted to really piss Real off. He signed a new deal 12 months ago, he committed himself to another 4/5 years at the club so IF rumours of him sulking are true then tough **** mate, sulking will just piss Levy (and Lewis) off more which definitely won't help. I don't think we can afford to let Bale go this season, we're building a team around him and have likely used him as a magnet to bring in the players we have (well, we know Paulinho was told Bale was staying). He's 24 years old, he's got the best part of a decade left in this sport, one more year at Spurs really won't hurt him. As for the supposed installment plan Real have offered, what a joke. "Richest team in club football" yet they can't even be willing to offer at least half of the amount we're asking for upfront. I just REALLY hope more than ever we keep Bale, just so it pisses Madrid off and makes them realise not every club will bow down to them.
I don't believe for one minute that Levy bends his knee to any body, least of all piss-takers like Real. However, we must realise that he is a businessman, above all. He will view this situation in a cold blooded, business like fashion: I.e. what is best for he future of the club. If he decides that Real's bid is acceptable, and is in the interests of the club to accept, he will do the deal, if not, then I think young Gareth can expect at least another 12 months with us, whether he likes it or not.
Boss, Another "famous" example of a player refusing to play, Roy Keane when he walked out of the ROI squad just before the world cup.
Just read that Juventus have to offload a few strikers as they have too many -6 (sigh!). Anyone care to speculate who they might be and would they be suitable for us?
Quagliarella is definitely one, Matri possibly another one. I'd probably give Quag a miss but Matri has an okay scoring record. Juve's attack of Tevez, Llorente, Vucinic and Giovinco is pretty formidable I have to say.
and completely embarrassing Mick McCarthy, top guy Roy Keane he practically bullys Gareth southgate each time they are on ITV.
Roy Keane has the stare of a crazed psycho. A crazed gypo-psycho, to be exact. They are the worst kind.
It wouldn't do him any favours to sit around sulking, he certainly wouldn't get the move he is reportedly wanting should that be his action. Same goes for us with Suarez. They are both on long term contracts, if they didn't want to stick around then they shouldn't have signed those agreements. The only way they leave is if the respective clubs feel an offer is of high enough value.
How do you feel suarez will act? as his situation is slightly different considering he got such great support from your club and fans over the incidents and from what I've been reading (could be exaggerated) but the reports have been saying Liverpool fans where singing his name in pre season yet suarez basically looked like wasn't interested and wants out. If he is forced to stay, could this tip him over the edge!
He put in a good shift against Olympiakos and seemed to appreciate the fans still love him regardless of the clubs stance and I think he'd play for them (hopefully this is the same for Bale!)
If thats the case then what a surprise, the red tops stirring! football fans are like that loyal wife that won't let go, no matter how times you try and do the dirty ! (not speaking from experience )
