Had a few bottles lagers this weekend.
Moretti, Staropramen, San Miguel and a new one on me Madri which I’m drinking now whilst watching the football and isn’t half bad.

I know there aren't too many wine buffs on here but I found this quite interesting.

Mrs Brizzle and I were also at a "garden party" at Powderham Castle a few months back (it was a public event, we weren't special guests honestly...) during which we witnessed a talk on British bubbly and why we're now producing some of the best in the world.
Apparently our climate in the UK is not akin to that of how the Champagne region used to be in its heyday, hence the excellent vintage.

Bucks Brizz!! <bubbly>

(Had to be careful with that <yikes>)

Well, I'm a wino.

Sorry, change that. I like wine and prefer it to beer.

2 pints of Abbot last night, head like a bucket this morning but a bottle of good red, fresh as a daisy.

Funny how your tastes and how your body absorbs the intake as you get older.

Don't know how many vineyards are in wales, but I regularly pass one just north of Newtown which has been there for over 15 years to my knowledge.

Still enjoy my beer but do enjoy a drop of red.
You're right though, for the same number of units consumed the body does react differently.

There's a very nice vineyard in the Vale of Glamorgan, Llanerch.

As well as tours and tasting it is also a wedding venue and they do afternoon teas. Making maximum use of their land, buildings etc.

They also have rooms now too, so overnight stays are possible. Have visited on a few occasions for lunches. Excellent wine and equally as good food there.

Am also aware of Parva vineyard up near Tintern. Sadly the proprietor sold up last year and the new folks aren't quite so savvy about wines.... the wine there is pretty average too in all honesty and not a patch on Llanerch.

My daughter got married there three years ago. Beautiful place and the food and service was excellent. However, as a teetotaller I didn’t get to sample, what I was reliably informed, was a very nice vintage. We also stayed the night and the rooms were first class.
I returned for an afternoon cream tea a few months later and had to ask for a doggy bag because there was so much food :emoticon-0110-tongu
