I'm with you on that totally and why I'm convinced United won a poor league last year and will struggle this year. I hope I'm not showing obsessive stalking tendencies about Arsenal it's just that I find you quite fascinating.
Over the years probably through his longevity Mr. Wenger has managed to convert me from not particularly liking him or Arsenal to very much appreciating and respecting what you've done (much like I detested Steve Davis but then loved him in his last years!). However.....
I think you're short of a top class keeper ala Hart or Cech, maybe even a Lloris. Think you're 2 top defenders short and your midfield has it's limitations once your injury plagues kick in - Is diaby injured again?? As for the foward line - well to be frank can you honestly compare to Aguero, Dzecko, Negredo, Jovetevic and Navas?
I thought this was the year of intent, you've got to admit that for some years now the rhetoric has been that now will be the time for these youngsters to come through. If you only make 4th/5th this year what would the reaction of clubs/fans be?
I think the keeper issue is just nuts. We can just do without blooding a new keeper this year. This is crazy talk. Just don't know where this whole keeper thing comes from. Fabianski is a decent back up. This is a total non-issue.
At CB, as long as Vermaelen gets fit again we have Koscielney/Metersacker/Vermaelen/Sagna. I think an opportunity to strengthen is a good RB. I don't think Jenkinson is quite ready, but we are talking about backups here, not starters.
I think Koscielney/Metersacker don't have to prove themselves to anyone. If anyone says they are not good enough then there is no point in talking to them. At LB we have Monreal/Gibbs who are fine.
Midfield starters we have Wilshere/Arteta/Ramsey/Ox - I think that is light. Arteta is one player who we cant expect to get better, he may get worse. Wilshere hasn't proved himself there. Ox hasn't either. So here is another solid opportunity.
CAM we have Wilshere/Cazorla/Rosicky - We are well set.
Forwards we are light but part of me says that we have Sanogo, Giroud, Podolski and Walcott that all want to play CF. Can they all fail? We also have Cazorla to fill in on the flank. But this is where a versatile forward that can play wide or through the middle would help.
So for me 3 players, a RB, a DM and a CF in that order of priority. But we are not desperate for any of them. If we only get 2/3 of them, I don't think it is a disaster or anything.
If we don't win a cup and finish 4th - Wenger will leave - no question IMO.
