I guess it is hard to predict before the transfer window is closed - but what if you were to predict with what has happened so far?

Liverpool: I think they will do much better this year. The surprise of the year I think will be Aspas. I've only seen him on highlights but remind me of Tevez. And I also believe Coutinho will do really well. Not too sure about their defence though.

Tottenham: Very interesting transfers - Paulinho and a pure striker in Salgado. Again, not sure about their defence.

Chelsea: Mourinho & co. Will Terry still hold the line? liability? in oscar, hazard, mata they got some got some game-changing players.

City: Interesting transfers to - in fernandinho who will add more strenght to their squad. A pure winger in Navas. With their core still there - Hart, Toure, Aguero.

Utd: Last year I thought they didnt have a great squad but yet managed to win.

Arsenal: First time in ages we dont have a "star" player leaving.

My prediction is:

City
Chelsea
United
Arsenal
Spurs
Liverpool

I'm not one for predictions but I'll stick my neck out and say it'll be close between them all <whistle>

I wonder what odds Victor will give me for that?

Top 4 will be the same, all though a different order, no doubt about that.

5th belongs to Spurs.

6th and 7th will be a toss up between Everton and Liverpool.

As the squads stand today and if no more activity

Man City clear by 2/3 points to
Chelsea who will be 9/10 points clear of
Liverpool who are 1 point clear of
Tottenham
Arsenal 5th
and United 6th

I think the 1st 2 are set in stone and the next 2 places are really any 2 from 4 and will be extremely close. What odds both M.Utd and Arsenal not making CL?

It's not going to stay the same in terms of squads, so it is difficult to predict. I'm going to do my pre-season thing soon, but as of right now, my gut says that it will be:

1st / 2nd Arsenal-Chelsea
3rd Man City
4th Spurs
5th Man United
6th Liverpool

That would in all honesty have to be some last 3 weeks of the window to propel you to 1st/2nd. Other than Suarez who else do you see on your radar that could come in to change what probably to the neutral at very best is a 3rd place?

I don't think too many of the other clubs have got better. We are going to get better simply because we have so many young players and top players in their second year of PL football that are going to get better just because of another year in the premier league.

It happens - Carrick got better last year for no reason other than he just did.

Managers are going to make a big difference as well. You want to avoid just believing all the ****. It really takes very little for a club to rise and fall.

Based on current squads

1.City
2.Chelsea
3.Utd
4.Spurs
5.Arsenal
6.Liverpool

Im not making any prediction until the window closes.

We are currently a 4th place side (3rd at best) - A Top class striker and DM could make a big difference however.

I'm with you on that totally and why I'm convinced United won a poor league last year and will struggle this year. I hope I'm not showing obsessive stalking tendencies about Arsenal it's just that I find you quite fascinating.
Over the years probably through his longevity Mr. Wenger has managed to convert me from not particularly liking him or Arsenal to very much appreciating and respecting what you've done (much like I detested Steve Davis but then loved him in his last years!). However.....

I think you're short of a top class keeper ala Hart or Cech, maybe even a Lloris. Think you're 2 top defenders short and your midfield has it's limitations once your injury plagues kick in - Is diaby injured again?? As for the foward line - well to be frank can you honestly compare to Aguero, Dzecko, Negredo, Jovetevic and Navas?

I thought this was the year of intent, you've got to admit that for some years now the rhetoric has been that now will be the time for these youngsters to come through. If you only make 4th/5th this year what would the reaction of clubs/fans be?

I would not rule out Swansea challenging for the top 6.

You may well be right, I think Soton, Swansea, Everton and Villa will be the next level teams after the Top 6. Unfortunately we see EVERY single Swansea game here due to Laudrup and got to say they looked incredible in the 2 games against Malmo who are no mugs and are half way through their season so fit as butchers' ...

Forgot about Swansea, they'll make up the top 8, all though calling it top 8, top 7, 6 and to an extent, top 5 is just getting desperate for all the teams outside of the top 4. It'll be an interesting battle for the teams on Merseyside when Swansea threaten their 6th and 7th place crowns.

I'll give you some credit for being realistic, and not putting yourself down as 3rd place (like some other fans of Liverpool have done elsewhere)
