Playing Can at right back is just a stupid idea, and I do not understand why rodgers would do this.
Manquillo at right back is far better than having Johnson there.
Just feels like Rodgers is trying to shoe-horn players into the wrong system.
cos he got it wrong playing 3-4-3 yet again when he had Johnson to play rb... its fitting in allen as per... fitting in gerrard as per. can ends up back there under severe pressure... markovic has mingolet's kicks lumped down on him where he can't compete either.
Johnson at least can compete in the air.
Just go 4-3-3 but no........ revert to the plan thats been found out and villa were so ready for. great press from villa 4 up wait for ball to lovern, run at him... ball back to mingolet.. win easy header... attack...

to be fair to you I've been gagging for us to go 433 for ages.
Sick of his three at the back, it's arrogance, in the modern tactical game 3 at the back can be undone without much difficulty against a team that does not have top notch ball retention skills, Pep's tika taka Barca would go 343, cos you ain't getting the ****ing ball off them. So it worked for us at those times when we were able to keep the ball for long spells.
As evidenced at Villa and long before, we've shown we cannot retain the ball under pressure.
Yep, this is what I don;t understand - the 3-4-3 got found out a long time ago, then we tried the 4-3-3 with a little more success. Then Gerrard returns and we go back to 3-4-3.

They are very similar types of coaches.
Rodgers cannot send a team out and defend using this system. He never has been able to. The beginning of the season was a nightmare.
Yeah but it was more down to the staff than the formation mate. We were shocking at the start of this season, Especially Lovren and Toure as well as our DMs.
I don't see that. Skerts and Lovren were totally exposed at the beginning of the season. We were totally vulnerable in midfield where the opposition pressed, won the ball and then ran into acres of space. Our full backs were caught out of position more often than not.....and we were static up front. What's changed really? We were poor like this last year too. For me, it's the tactics that BR employs. Way to cavalier....it worked when Suarez could tie an entire defence up on his own.....doesn't look that clever without him though.
433 is not a shape, it is a starting position. That is all.
Under real pressure 433 becomes 451 easily, IF the players are sinstructed to drop back IF we can't work hte ball through the middle. 451 quickly becomes 433 again with the pace of counter attack
Thing is, it seems our players are not instructed to do this, you watch united's last few games, and see them drop deep to retain the ball by having more players closer together and so more passing options, keeping the ball in that area in front of the defence is more important than trying to force it through to your AMs, cos of the pressure it puts you under if you lose it
This is my point. I don't think it matters what the formation is, if BR send his team out with the wrong instructions (tactics), we'll always suffer. Over-complicate things and we'll also suffer. Much better to have a settled formation and a well drilled side....and buy players to suit it. We seem to buy players and try to find a system to suit....which then has to change with every injury/suspension. Awful management really

Reins has to go, no man is bigger than the club and he was whoring himself out to Barca and would have left us in the ****ter had they offered for him and we had no replacement lined up

We surrendered their half of pitch to them while they pressed 3 and 4 up on us leaving only lovern with space who never ran it out like he could but back passed in a diffident manner of a defeated man
Rodgers can spoof all he wants but he hadn't the belief himself to cut loose on them or arsenal or Utd
He's bottled it not just the players
