excuse me but i'm well on record about reina... he was back stabbed by rodgers. Its all on record about him telling reina he was buying then suddenly up comes loan to napoli and a **** off.

Agger sure was ****ed but worse than lovern? c'mon.

if thats the best return you know in your heart its rodgers fault. hes in bloody charge.

You think Rodgers has some Wenger-esque personal obsession with reducing the wage bill and buying young players?

Or maybe FSG are behind those policies perhaps?

And if we get a new manager in and Ayre ****s up their 5 first choice signings do we just sack the new manager and go again?

Ayre will be gone in the summer. <ok>

At least with a manager like Klopp, he has the ability to attract players we probs wouldn't without CL football.

There are a lot of wrongs to right at the moment - but most lie with the manager.

Style/Philosophy/Tactics

After 3 years at the club, what is the philosophy or style that play? Originally, he wanted to play a possession based game. Then realised that it didn't work and built around Suarez, to develop a high intensity, pressing game. Then Suarez left, and we're now nothing.

If Rodgers had truly stamped his style on the team, then losing 1 player (albeit a world class player) should not have had such an impact.

In terms of tactics, how can you set up your team or how can the players execute a plan if there is no style or philosophy? Using the Villa game as an example, Rodgers changed the team 4x during the game which is staggering.

Not accepting the point against Chelsea last season was tactical naivety. Rodgers wanted to beat Mourinho badly, and forgot the bigger picture.

I know Mourinho doesn't have a lot of fans but using the Chelsea vs United game as example, he knew the importance of not losing first and foremost, and he adapted.

Ego

When you're winning, you can pretty much say whatever you like. But when you're losing, you have to choose your words a lot more carefully. Some of his comments are embarrassing to say the least - bigging up Gerrard yesterday is incredible.

But his reluctance to get a coach who can work on the defence is staggering. Then he had the audacity to to take the p*ss after a few clean sheets. He didn't improve the defence, merely masked the issues which are again being found out.

Also, his ego won't allow him to work in a structure that FSG originally wanted - a structure that is used by most successful clubs. And his desire to make Lovren and Lallana his number 1 targets is what cost us this summer.

Mentality

Deep down, Rodgers is a mid-table manager with a mid-table mentality. I think it's reflected in his transfer targets (of course, this is merely speculation) but players like Bertrand, Williams, Lambert Borini, Allen (to some extent) etc are simply not good enough for this club. As mentioned above, he made Lovren and Lallana his marquee signings - to think that these two players would take us to the next level makes seriously question his judgement.

Defence

Rodgers has never improved a defence over his entire career. Our defence is inconsistent and lacks real structure or discipline.

Whilst many will point to attacking play, and goals being more important - the majority of successful teams in the history of the game are built on a solid defences and midfields. That's not to say we need to have the best defence, but we need to have at least the 4th best defence in the league. And I don't think Rodgers knows how to do this.

The same with the midfield - Henderson and Allen are good squad players to have but that's all. We need real quality midfielders in the Can mould, supported by a DM. It should not take 3 years to resolve.

Attack

Rodgers is famed for his attacking play. But is he really a good attacking coach? We've been poor going forward this season, brilliant last season and inconsistent the year before. I reiterate, how can losing one player cause that much a problem if the a style is embedded?

Sentiment

Using Gerrard and Johnson as much as he has done compromises the so called meritocracy he wanted to create. Putting Gerrard straight back into the team against Villa just simply undermines him. He took off Markovic at 45 mins because he wanted to bring energy to the game, yet persists with Gerrard. It doesn't make any sense.

Overall - I don't think a massive rebuild is required. We simply need to 3-5 players, 3 of which need to walk into the first team. But more importantly, we need a manager who can take us to the next level. I don't think Rodgers has done a bad job - I think he is leaving a stronger team than the one he inherited. But much like our players, we need that extra bit of quality.

I think Rodgers can become successful, but I don't think we can afford to wait that long.

I disagree with some of the points, you mention Bertrand (bound to notice that) but he's a solid consistant defender who has good attacking qualities and available at a decent price, he's who we should have bought.

A midfield of

--------Lucas--------
Hendo--------Vidal

That'll do for me and is an example of how 1 player can make a big difference

I agree with how a player can make a difference.

But I think we need 2-3 of them - another CB, DM and a ST/AM.

People slagging Sturridge for being injured suddently forget the number of games Agger ever played in a row.

And Reina had burned his bridges on his own.

and how did he do that? Apart from being one of the best Liverpool servants he did what Chewy Suarez did but Chewy got to come back to the team. This was basically a political move by Rodgers and a blatant cut your nose off to spite you face. He paid big money for Mignolet and rather than having an arguably better number 1 or at worse a competent no.2, he got rid of arguably a top 3 keeper (3 years ago) for free and left you up **** creek in terms of goalkeeping competition.

Who's slagging off Sturridge, stating we can't rely on him because of this injury record is pretty accurate imo.

Both Studge and Agger, good players, but they couldn't\can't stay match fit.

I have always been a massive fan of reina's, he was perfect for the system of playing out from the back and still is miles better than the flapper you have between the sticks.

Rodgers wanted his own stamp on the club and has managed to squeeze out the older and experienced players, to Liverpool detriment.

Reina was a top keeper but something went wrong (think it was when the spanish GK coach left) and his performances were really poor to the point where he was costing us points.

Age and wages were against him, and he simply was not value for money. One thing we do miss is the leadership.

However, I cannot blame us for moving him on - he flirted with Barcelona for a while and he was expected to leave in the summer. The club did what was expected, and that was to plan for the future and bring a new keeper in. That was smart and it was the right thing to do.

Rodgers to stay, and accept help in the areas he is not doing well.
Defence coaching and transfers.

That will do me.

After all the changes and and so on, this season was always going to be a test.

He has to accept the help he needs, if he can't accept that, then he might have to push off elsewhere.

I have no problems with his squad management and coaching, defence apart. We've never been solid at the back under Rodgers except in brief spells.

I think that's true. He got rid of the old hands like Reina, Kuyt and Agger, and kept Gerrard onside by letting him rule the roost.

I'm sure that stuff like his envelopes routine and power points had some of the more experienced pro's laughing at him behind his back and questioning his credentials.

You certainly get that feeling from Rodgers, that he doesn't like to be challenged. Players with strong egos like Agger, Sakho, Reina have all been marginalised by Rodgers.

It's probs why Rodgers prefers to work with youth or English dross with no backbone ala Lallana.

I'm sure that's right.

Lads who'll lap up his babble as opposed to seasoned pro's who've worked with far better and would smell a fraud a mile off.

Yup, thought this a long time ago tbh....
