Out of those Borini was an early stopgap, could have been sold for profit. Lambert is a temporary backup, could have been sold for profit. Assaidi was a young player with potential, was sold for a profit. Balotelli was a late gamble after Rodgers said he wasn't coming, still worth keeping for another season IMO and if sold the loss won't be huge.

So I don't see why Rodgers is to blame. Who was it that couldn't convince Sanchez/Costa etc.?

As long as you don't end up with egg on your face when a loud mouth uses said name to get a better contract where he is... see marseille example... or ajax. deschamps and de boer made us look chumps.

I don't know. That's why I don't see the point in making Rodgers a scapegoat for certain transfers. If they came down to other people then changing manager does **** all to fix that.

Yeah but if we genuinley want one of the said managers there's no point messing about approach them and see what happens, if we're sticking with Rodgers keep a close eye on his targets and tell him to get ****ed if he wants to sign ****e like Balotelli or young potential.

Wouldn't work. Why would you employ someone who you have no faith in with regards to transfer dealings? Get someone who you can put your faith into....someone who has a good track record. Or forever put up with this type of rubbish!

cout 8.5m sahko 14m? Can 9m. 31m, those 3 cost 5m more than Lallana. 11m more than Lovren.

Somethig to be said for looking for quality in Europe over average overpriced PL players from a team that finished 6 places below you. We bought a player from Chelsea, Studge, and he is good but you'd expect that buying a player Chelsea thought good enough for them. Southampton tho...

Who is the big question? Not a lot out there to chose from and there's no certainty in that Rodgers replacement will be great in the transfer market.

I'm sticking with Rodgers unless one of the 2 mentioned are his replacment.

He's been very hit and miss, not all his transfers have been bad but for every good signing there's a toatal disaster some middle ground would be nice.

COUGHS.... borini was bought to play left side forward in a direct transplant of rodgers 4-3-3 with wide forwards he had at swansea. 11 mil for a player who yes could have went for 14mil.... he flopped and the system didn't suit suarez.

Lambert was a bad buy period... the moment he turned up and said he needed extra training just to keep up cos he needed games to be able to move his creaking bones i was saying DOH.

Assaidi was a punt.. who is very average and neve rlooked right

ASPAS was the most anonymous player ever to don our shirt. another 7 mil waste of space

Balotelli was another DISASTER as he was the replacement for suarez to give us a first team option and has been worse than sturrdige who's been injured all YEAR!

stop dressing this muck up. you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

How one earth is rodgers not to blame for this litany of errors year upon year?

I'm only really happy with 2 summer signings from last summer. Gvien how many we brought in, that's pathetic.

middle ground is Can. Good player took a while to find a role, still isn't in ideal slot but showed what he can do and what he is about... the felling is there is a lot more to come from him.

Coutinho is our one top signing and talent as PFA nomination shows.

there are 5 bad to every good.

I mean sahko, coutinho and can are about it for me. the rest all in the average category. i think his iddle ground is actual average players like allen, mingolet and the like.

It says it it all that people were crying for reina and ageer to stay as he pusehd them out the door and the team patently missed the,.... i'd contend that skertl, henderson and lucas were major driver of the success of 3-4-3 this year and really rodgers after 3 years was filling in round the edges and relying on his 3 good buys too.

There are a lot of wrongs to right at the moment - but most lie with the manager.

    Style/Philosophy/Tactics

After 3 years at the club, what is the philosophy or style that play? Originally, he wanted to play a possession based game. Then realised that it didn't work and built around Suarez, to develop a high intensity, pressing game. Then Suarez left, and we're now nothing.

If Rodgers had truly stamped his style on the team, then losing 1 player (albeit a world class player) should not have had such an impact.

In terms of tactics, how can you set up your team or how can the players execute a plan if there is no style or philosophy? Using the Villa game as an example, Rodgers changed the team 4x during the game which is staggering.

Not accepting the point against Chelsea last season was tactical naivety. Rodgers wanted to beat Mourinho badly, and forgot the bigger picture.

I know Mourinho doesn't have a lot of fans but using the Chelsea vs United game as example, he knew the importance of not losing first and foremost, and he adapted.

    Ego

When you're winning, you can pretty much say whatever you like. But when you're losing, you have to choose your words a lot more carefully. Some of his comments are embarrassing to say the least - bigging up Gerrard yesterday is incredible.

But his reluctance to get a coach who can work on the defence is staggering. Then he had the audacity to to take the p*ss after a few clean sheets. He didn't improve the defence, merely masked the issues which are again being found out.

Also, his ego won't allow him to work in a structure that FSG originally wanted - a structure that is used by most successful clubs. And his desire to make Lovren and Lallana his number 1 targets is what cost us this summer.

    Mentality

Deep down, Rodgers is a mid-table manager with a mid-table mentality. I think it's reflected in his transfer targets (of course, this is merely speculation) but players like Bertrand, Williams, Lambert Borini, Allen (to some extent) etc are simply not good enough for this club. As mentioned above, he made Lovren and Lallana his marquee signings - to think that these two players would take us to the next level makes seriously question his judgement.

    Defence

Rodgers has never improved a defence over his entire career. Our defence is inconsistent and lacks real structure or discipline.

Whilst many will point to attacking play, and goals being more important - the majority of successful teams in the history of the game are built on a solid defences and midfields. That's not to say we need to have the best defence, but we need to have at least the 4th best defence in the league. And I don't think Rodgers knows how to do this.

The same with the midfield - Henderson and Allen are good squad players to have but that's all. We need real quality midfielders in the Can mould, supported by a DM. It should not take 3 years to resolve.

    Attack

Rodgers is famed for his attacking play. But is he really a good attacking coach? We've been poor going forward this season, brilliant last season and inconsistent the year before. I reiterate, how can losing one player cause that much a problem if the a style is embedded?

    Sentiment

Using Gerrard and Johnson as much as he has done compromises the so called meritocracy he wanted to create. Putting Gerrard straight back into the team against Villa just simply undermines him. He took off Markovic at 45 mins because he wanted to bring energy to the game, yet persists with Gerrard. It doesn't make any sense.

Overall - I don't think a massive rebuild is required. We simply need to 3-5 players, 3 of which need to walk into the first team. But more importantly, we need a manager who can take us to the next level. I don't think Rodgers has done a bad job - I think he is leaving a stronger team than the one he inherited. But much like our players, we need that extra bit of quality.

I think Rodgers can become successful, but I don't think we can afford to wait that long.

People slagging Sturridge for being injured suddently forget the number of games Agger ever played in a row.

And Reina had burned his bridges on his own.

It's a fair stance to have. It's very easy saying Rodgers out and either of those two in but in reality, neither will come.....I just hope the owners have been busy these last few months......
