I have been saying this all day to anyone who will listen.

Mainly to convince myself.

No way they are THAT stupid. Are they?!
Hiring a manager most were glad to see the back of. Who failed miserably in the PL, was hounded out at rangers. Returning to a toxic atmosphere with supporters baying for the boards blood.

Yes that’s SR.

It's baffling that after many years of being in and out the team, years of being inconsistent and shipped off to other teams that Jack Stephens found himself with a new 3 year deal and the Captaincy. Only at Southampton do you get rewarded for sticking around after being a part of TWO 9-0 losses.
It's because someone at the club looked at his stats and somehow Stephens ticked all the boxes. What they didn't do watch him play.

Or he never rocks the boat and never argues with anyone. Because of that everyone likes him. That got misconstrued somehow that he is a leader.

Or some moron put it in his contract that he is captain and the squad went WTF.

Or all of the above.

Russell Martin is one job away from being unemployable. I am inclined to think he will end up at Norwich. Just feel that SR may listen to the supporters more this tome around. I can see an English manager from Championship or League one. Carrick is the most sensible name i have seen mentioned.

Your second point couldn't be further from the truth. But that's been misconstrued as him somehow being a leader. He is. Just not the type of leader you want in a club.

Whispers on Vieira. Just left Genoa, appointed there by Spors with Tonda as his assistant.

Did a decent job at Palace, but not a great record. But good luck trying to give him and Oriol any **** about feeling sick etc.

Makes a lot of sense, and ticks the biggest box for me in that he had a much better playing career than anyone at the club.

Why did it go wrong at Genoa? Spors must have contacts still there so if he is calling up old mates to ask about him that may put him off. Would still be a bit of a coup given our current standing

I stood next to Patrick Vieira once, in the lobby of the hotel next to Arsenal’s training ground, when I was at a conference. He is one of the most physically impressive human beings I have ever seen up close. David Seaman was there too, and while he is also tall, he doesn’t fill the room like Vieira does.

I would love to see someone of the stature of Vieira tackle the time-wasters and scoundrels currently pretending to be professional footballers at our club.

He is 82 this month. Not managed in uk since 2004. Are you serious ?

no, Ian, not serious I was taking some other suggestions to the extreme.

I think it’s fair to say most of us have no idea what a good manager is these days. We know what a good manager was 30 years ago.

maybe we’re just a basket case, Juric failed miserably, so did the young hipster types.
