i think they've got confused with all the talk of pulis. he is merely being bandied around as a possible replacement should adams leave his post. as far as i'm aware, i've not read a single city fan who's said they'd be over the moon to have him in charge but the point i've been putting forward is that a) i think our players might work well with him in charge, and b) he may very well see our club as an attractive proposition, more so than those from binland seem to appreciate. his stock is very high right now - despite his limitations, it would be seen as a coup to get him (rightly or wrongly). i think that's worth discussing.

Yep. You're right. It was probably an easy mistake to make given how much stick they've been given on here.

Sensibly, I think Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee have resigned on this one.


All fair points and I can honestly see where you're coming from. As I said before, Pulis has to be about as safe a bet for promotion as the appointment of any Manager could be. But I would find that very hard to reconcile with my distaste for the style. Obviously I'd be supportive, but I'd like to think we could appoint a non-Pulis and with the squad we've got still achieve promotion anyway. It's would be a balance of weighing up the sacrifice.
 
I have never, ever, ever wanted a Norwich manager to be successful and wipe egg over the faces of a section of our own fanbase as much as I want Neeyull to in the coming months.

If all this negativity spills out onto the terraces creating a morgue like atmosphere at times like it did last year then it will be a disgrace if you ask me. We were top of the table two weeks ago FFS, some of the stuff I've read in the past couple of days is seriously mind-blowing <yikes>
 
I wouldn't say I want it quite so much for the egg on fellow fans faces as for the success of the club... <laugh>

But your point definitely stands. No matter how much you dress it up with Hughton's many shortcomings, the fans to our shame also played a big part in his ultimate failure. It would be a case fo typical Norwich self-destructiveness if we were to do it again so quickly.

not sure if you've managed to get to any of the games mate but there has been nothing other than full support given to adams and the whole team inside the grounds (and quite rightly) all season - its poles apart from anything witnessed last season. even at middlesbrough, it was the yellow army singing at the death, despite one of the all-time worst performances i've ever seen by a city side. the fact he apparently 'bleeds yellow and green' is giving him a lot of leeway with many people. if the atmosphere turns with adams in charge he'll be gone immediately - they won't wait this time to let it fester.

I've only been to three games so far this year (Brentford, Rotherham and Fulham so W/D/L so far) and only one of those at home , and I agree the atmosphere has been good and a far cry from scenes towards the end of Hootun's reign. I'm not saying there has been a bad atmosphere up until now as there hasn't been.

My comment was actually looking forwards as I said I hope the negativity doesn't spill out onto the terraces, and I think it's reasonable to make that comment this week as this is the first week of real disquiet I've seen on here towards Neeyull so far, and my concerns are about should we go a goal down against Brighton early on - what will the atmosphere be like then?

in all honesty? i think it'll turn.

there is a huge amount of frustration amongst our fans as i've experienced by chatting to them, but as i say, so far they've been fully supportive within the grounds. i think events from last season have taken their toll though - patience is wearing thin and i don't think it'll take a lot for it to turn nasty. i do think the angst is directed towards the board and their decision making as opposed to getting personal with adams, so its a different beast to the hughton regime anyway.

Your players are rubbish and I wouldn't want any of them. We don't play that way up here.

Well I'm going to disagree with the post you are all agreeing on. With the squad we have we should win this league at a stroll. Anything less than promotion is a total and utter failure this season. We will never have as good a chance of going up as now; fail and we will lose our best players to premiership clubs. If we can't beat Birmingham at home then we simply have to be able to beat a Middlesborough or Forest away from home, that's how it works; if you can't beat the smaller teams you put pressure on yourselves to beat the big teams.

Right now we are in relegation form! (Second worst in the league over the last ?-many games) That is nothing short of disgraceful with the budget and players we have. So I won't sit back and watch any manager squander a golden opportunity to get back to the Premier League. As I said in my OP I'll always support the team and all our staff when we play but I won't hold back any criticism if I feel its justified. If Adams can't get this mess sorted out very soon, then he has to be replaced by someone who can, simple as, because we should not settle for Championship mediocrity.
 
DM how many relegated sides win the league the next year at a stroll?.
Promotion would be a massive success and maybe the arrogance of some fans expecting to stroll this league has rubbed off on our hugely underachieving squad.
Perhaps like you they expected it to be easy?.
 
Recent results have certainly been very disappointing, but Boro aside, there have been enough good performances to make me feel that the situation can be turned around in the next four games but it will be up to the players to 'dig in' as Gary O'Neil describes it. That will be the test, IMO. The players have the skills, but those skills need to be turned into results to get back into the play-off places and then work our way up from there. Adams and Holt and whoever else might come in need to make that happen as well. I think they can, but it needs to happen soon so that we can get back in touch with the leaders.
 
i'm beginning to wonder how many games some people have seen this season because i'm really struggling to think of a single game where we've played well, certainly not for 90 minutes, thats for sure. cardiff away second half, i'll give you that, and maybe watford at home, though that was a mis match due to the red card in the 3rd minute. other than that i think we've really struggled to find any form at all. we may have looked like we've dominated games in terms of possession and shots but actually i think this is one of those things where stats can be misleading. i haven't come away from any ground thinking 'we've played well today'. as i said before, even when we were winning games we were doing so in second gear and (maybe that should be viewed as a positive but) now things are going against us, nothing has changed in that department - if anything we've got a lot worse. the 'we've played well' thing is a bit of a myth. i thought i'd go back over our games:

wolves - bit of a disaster but early days
watford - decent win but against 10 men for 87 mins
blackburn - should have been 3-0 down before we got into the game and left it late to win, though just about deserved it
ipswich - comfortable win but should have been more comfortable and never got out of 2nd gear
bournemouth - totally outplayed, did well to get a point
cardiff - could have been 3-0 down before a stunning turnaround - our best 45 minutes of the season
brentford - another game where we were completely played off the park until tettey and jerome produced some premier league class for a flattering scoreline
birmingham - again 2-0 down, did well to battle back for a point but a very poor performance for 80 minutes
blackpool - another game played in 2nd gear but too strong for the hosts
charlton - very unlucky to lose but void of nous and creation going forward to break a stubborn side down
rotherham - poor performance, poor result
fulham - even game, tad unlucky to lose but again, lacked the nous to break them down
leeds - yet another poor home performance, though we should have won
sheff wed - terrible opening 70 minutes, should have won it at the end
bolton - a bit better but distinctly average performance against a side who offered no threat
middlesbrough - worst performance i've seen from a norwich side for at least 5 years
forest - game there for the taking and we slumped back into defence mode and suffered the consequences

hardly a string of great performances there.
