What about my suggestion of having one specific thread and Sticky: OT - Political Issues for all such discussions and posts to be located ??

I like what you've posted as well <ok>

One OT thread just for political issues could be a way forward but what if there's a few topical issues occurring at the same time, it could get complicated arguing them all in the one thread? I ignore threads I don't like the look of, haven't been on the Cheese one for the same reason - love RHC but personally not interested in the soap opera drama down the local <laugh> I don't have any problem with threads like that on here either, the more that get people talking, the better. I do think it's a shame sometimes when the OT stuff gets 10 times the amount of posts that the footie stuff gets but as I don't create many articles myself, I cant really complain.

"can anyone name a poster that has left because they've been treated unfairly or unjustly despite perfectly reasonable behaviour? I can't. " KPR? <laugh>

In answer to that, perhaps and I know some who have said they drifted off for a while etc

In short wishi was not treated well at all and 6ds was one of the best on here but just got a bit angry so a bit of decency and he might well still be here

I liked MFG, Wishi, 6d and KPR!

Several of them were around on the old 606. Shame they're no longer around! <ok> Someone on here and ja606 needs to poach the best posters from ja606 without attracting the trouble making riff-raff! <laugh>

I liked wishi - still do, just because you have a different view and that view is negative, doesn't mean you should be constantly ridiculed for it. I also remember gaf71, one of the better posters from bbc days who joined here and left because he felt the site was turning into ''back slapping, in joke, clique loving place, which I have no desire to be part of.''

Someone said in an earlier post [I have read them all now] we all have a responsibility to make the place somewhere posters want to be and somewhere new posters will feel welcome - can each of us honestly say our 'behaviour' on here fits both those criteria?

A lot of crickety moaning and schmoaning - no action. Demand a vote! Demand democracy! Demand action! It should be up to the 40 odd posters of this board to organise their forum as they see fit - the mods are there to moderate, not dictate.

Start with Knotty, RAP and TR <ok>

Don't think they're dictating mate.

How do you think the board should be organised?

{btw I don't think where you come from should be used to have sly digs at you, if people think you're an idiot that's fair enough but putting Canadian in there is as out of order as putting someone's faith [oh I see that's been done as well] or colour in there and it's totally unnecessary as you can no more help where you were born that what colour you were born} <ok>

I truly don't see what the trouble is about. Everybody has the right to refer their opinion about a thread, a particular poster or an individual post to the Mods. Provided that the complainant details their reasons for the complaint, it is then up to the Mod or the collective decision of the Mods to take action or ignore the request. The complainant has no power (apart from the strength of their argument) to influence the Mods and the rest of the board can carry on about its business.

The idea that using the moderation system for the very purpose that it was intended is somehow 'telling tales out of school' is childish. If the complaint has no merit then the Mods will take no action - and maybe warn the complainant about misusing the system. If the complaint is justified and has support then action in the best interests of the board can and should be taken.

We have Mods for a purpose - so let them work.

JB, you know who that rant came from! <doh>

I think MITO is on Ja? You know what to do man.

wont make much dif, i have used the site, and its a bit like here, they like the users there and have become used to them, or how ever you want to put it lol, also they like the format of that site better as its old bbc one, some dont like the pics etc you can do on here, strange but true.

OK... I had the multi quote thing going and IE crapped out on me...
I'm not going through 5 pages of crap again!

Liv
I think a high post count is usually a good sign of a healthy debate (or we've gone off topic and discussing goats).

However, if I'm not involved in a conversation from the start and see a page count over 5 or 6 pages I usually just ignore it rather than trying to catch up on 6 pages without me... a high page count for something you're not involved in can be intimidating.

Woolsville Being silly- I entered Woolsville in Google Maps and it took me to Wembley Stadium of all places! <laugh>
I tried Woolville too- and it took me to Wolfville which is a town in Nova Scotia.

I can't remember what else I was going to reply to- so I'll let it go! <ok>

I don't see why someone would choose to post on that type of forum. The whole setup of the place is terrible, the only reason it was good on the BBC website was because there were so many posters.

a lot of them just got used to using that format and didn't want to change, it has its good points though, esp match threads, ie instant interaction with users in real time a live match thread type thing rather than having to refresh like you would on here.

love to know in what direction every user from the old bbc went in, as i cant see that it was only the main 2 ie here and ja, doesnt seem enough, i used to use one but wasn't that busy.

Don't have an interest in a thread, don't go on it.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others won't and unless it causes offence (in which case report it to one of the mods) then it won't be closed.

Don't like the fact there are more OT threads than footy ones, then use your brain and create something worth discussing.

Your all adults (apart from Enricky and Magic) so man up <whistle>

Mod rant over<diva>

I hated the old BBC 606 format! <laugh>
I liked that it was a thriving community- and I was actually on the BBC 606 when the old format was new... they had an even worse before that one! <whistle>

When the old 606 was running a bunch of us had our own private forum running (to escape the WUMS) that I had set up so we could discuss things outside of the moderation- about a dozen of us were on there (the regular pub thread posters on the BBC606 forum)... it kind of died shortly after BBC's 606 did though- think it is still technically running, just not used.

I think ja606 or not606 were the main two destinations that people went to. There were a few others, but not as popular.
