Erm, I really don't remember saying 'Barca were **** because they lost one game'. Unless you can tell me otherwise? I seem to recall I quite logically pointed out that since they weren't the current European or world champions then it's strange to suggest they're the best team in the world. For that is why we have competitions to decide these things. And asking someone to 'get out of German football's arse' is wonderfully ironic. The media ****fest over Barca is precisely why I hate them, not because of their relative success. I never hated the glorious late 80's early 90's Milan side who were FAR, FAR more successful than this Barca team.
You mean the team that won 3 Champions League's in 6 years ... just like this Barca team? Interestingly, Barca still won in '92!
Barcelona are the World's best Club IMO. Bayern are having a brilliant Season and will have been buzzing to play against Barca at their own Ground. Barcelona are not ****, they have some of the World's best players in every position and arguably the best player in the World (Messi). Bayern will win the Champions League now though.
As in the fact that I think they will win the Bundesliga comfortably again, that they'll win at least another UCL, win the Super Cup, and appear in nearly every final they could compete for. Them winning it 3 times could easily happen. It's obviously happened before, albeit a while ago, so why couldn't it happen again? You mention the 'Jose' factor - but what about the 'Pep' factor? He will galvanize Bayern. He has already brought in one of the best attacking mids in the world in the form of Mario Gotze to them, and he will probably bring in Lewandowski as well. (I tried to post this last night but my internet decided to stop working)
Another? They haven't won this one yet. It has happened before, yes, although only twice it was 1973-1976 the last time anyone did it and the only other time was Real's 5 in a row in the first 5 years. I'd put everything I own on them not winning 3 in a row. You could argue that, alternatively, they might be about to kick out the man who could win them the treble, that could have an adverse effect on the team. In addition, it could give Guardiola the task of beating it, which is practically impossible. There's no doubt they'll have a great team and will most likely dominate Germany for the foreseeable future but winning the Champions League is incredibly difficult to do once, never mind three in a row, and now more so than ever.
He was retiring at the end of the season, so nonetheless they would've had a new manager next year. It likely won't have an effect on the team, as they have known they wouldn't have him around next season.
It said last night that he wanted another year at Bayern and wasn't happy that he wasn't being allowed another year. He's even suggested that he's going to go after a job in Spain or England now, which would suggest it was more a case of Bayern trying to force him into retirement so they could bring Guerdiola in.
Neither have Manchester United, so clearly Benfica and Nottingham Forest are better than Barcelona and Manchester United.
If you think that then that's up to you but I'd have said Forest were a 2nd tier club to be honest. My whole point through this entire discussion has been about how good teams are at present based upon current title holders. I have never strayed from that.
Agree about the Spanish league in general but Xavi and Iniesta are still two of the very best players players in the world. The current bumming for German football throughout England is far less deserved and more irritating than liking Barca who have actually been brilliant for several years. I specifically stated that your original argument was based on them not winning the CL last year - so I don't know why you had to point that out again. Zizou mate you're a good poster but sound like Tickler when you start talking about German football - just stating what you want to happen as what will happen. It's well over the top. Everyone said what you're saying this time last year and they ended up getting beat by Chelsea.
I do watch a helluva lot of German footie, I will be honest there. Probably too much. I just prefer it to the other 'big' leagues (bar the Prem).
Oh dear for Barca. When Messi is poor Barca are poor. I would still would not write them off just yet.
Does this mean the studenty 'footy'-loving ****s will switch their allegiances and replica shirts to Bayern now?
What would happen if Gotze scored a last minute Champions League final winner against Bayern? Probably the best and the worst way to say hello to your new side.
